A/C Problems
A/C Problems
Hey guys I've got a 2011 5.0 and I haven't used my A/C all winter and when I turned it on the first time this season it isn't blowing cold air. Before I take it in I'd like to check the pressure in the system to see if it could just be a low r134 level (unlikely i know). Does anyone know where the lower valve is on the 5.0's? The only valve I can find I think is the upper system valve on the passenger side of the engine bay in front of the battery. This valve's fitting is much to large to accomodate my pressure gauge so I'm guessing its got to be the upper valve. Any help would be much appreciated.
This may not have the answer your looking for but it does have some good info http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=711 .
as a mechanic, what i found out is that sometimes the cars wont blow any cold air is because there is not enough pressure inside the system to engage the ac clutch.
Especially in areas where is cold/hot. Since the seals expand and then contract.
Here in AZ, we usually dont have this issue.

To answer your question, the suction guage port is under the battery tray area, near the strut mount. It's pointed downwards. I found it strange that ford put that port way down there. Let me know if you still cannot find it.
