Bottom door sheet metal
Bottom door sheet metal
Has anyone noticed the sheet metal at the bottom inside of their doors is not flush. It wraps upward leaving a gap. Usually the sheet metal is crimped flush & sealed to prevent rust. I am concerned dirt & water will collect, eventually causing rust.
I did notice that and I have the same concerns. Can't believe they built it that way!! What are they thinking?
It's been discussed before - check out this thread and see what you think: https://themustangsource.com/f726/se...panels-513545/

Never saw that thread before. Got a good laugh out of that one. Ignorance. Please everyone do not seal up the gaps that are left in the sheet metal. This is all intentional. You seal these areas up and you enable water to pool for long periods without the ability to evaporate.
At the end of that thread I realized that they were drain channels and everytime I washed the car, water would run out from under the 3M seam Sealer tape I put on, so I took it off and just blow the channel out now with my compressor.
I intend on either spraying used oil in the doors to lubricate (I have done this on other car doors in the past) or buy the rust proofing kit from Eastwood and doing it myself.
I was also mislead by another mustang enthusiast who put seam seal tape over them also.
