Area Dealerships won't warrant any simple add ons!

SO in the Montgomery AL area all of the dealerships I have called have told me that I cannot Have my warranty and a Cold Air Intake system, but them they said that adding bigger wheels would be fine? I think its straight crap I don't get the logic and if anyone out there knows of a dealership in my area that would, let me know.

You'll find that pretty common. If you modify the engine, then you won't have a warranty on the engine anymore.

You're not really gonna mess anything up with new rims, so they don't care about that.

That's not quite correct - if your car had an engine issue, they would have to prove that the CAI caused the problem to void your warranty. It's not just automatically null & void when you mod.

While this is true, it's a hassle to fight. I am going to wait till my warranty expires.

It's really quite simple. Ford warranties the car that Ford built. When you modify the car, like with a different tune, it isn't the car that Ford built. If a problem comes up and the tune plays a part in it, then it wasn't the Ford part that caused the problem. If the tune didn't cause a problem, then Ford is responsible.

Think of it like this: you change to a different radio. It quits working. Should Ford honor the warranty on the Shaker and replace your aftermarket parts?
