I have this issue as well but it only happens when the car has been running on track or the street for that matter in hot temps. It will also not start/crank if the outside temps are in the 90s even if car has just been sitting in the heat. No codes and the car won't start until the temps outside cool down. Sometimes this takes hours even after disconnecting the battery for an hour attempting to reset the PCM. Relays all replaces, new starter motor with heat wrap applied. Checked all the cables and they seem fine. Ford tells me the PCM is functioning properly. Am I the only one who has had this problem where starting the car is heat related? By the way, The dash lights up like crazy - see video below.

I Fixed the Problem!

So I stop at a store, come back to start my car like the last 50,000 times… and crickets 🦗 🦗 🦗

I spend 30 minutes checking everything possible. Finally Google the issue and find this thread. I read the whole thread and most people said eventually the car just started again like nothing ever happened. So I’m like “What the hell, can’t hurt.” So I try the key again and VROOM 🏎 🏎 🏎

If happens again to any of you, or if you’re just coming to this thread for the same reason… start at the beginning of this thread, read to the end, then try your starter again… that should do it.

(on a serious note… anyone ever figure out the real cause of this issue?)

I had this same issue with a different car and I struggled to figure it out. After many garages a weekend warrior came to my rescue and found out that an ignition wire was grounding against my engine block causing the sporadic starts and non starts problem. Never had it again after fixing the bad wire with a zip tie and electrical tape for pennies verses the thousands or so spent on replacing parts.

Same scenario

Long story short. Exact same situation in my 2013 mustang gt. Dealer couldn’t figure it out without it replicating the problem. Has happened about 3 or 4 times and randomly will start hours later or sometimes after a couple try’s. Just happened again and oddly enough I tried aggressively rowing through the gears and wiggling in N pretty aggressive and it started. So maybe try that if you get in this situation and stranded.

I had a Bad Cam Sensor in another Make and it would Only Restart after Disconnecting the Battery Cable and sitting at Least three Hours .Initial Start No Prob. First Restart Nothing. No Check Engine, No Codes. Replaced Cam Sensor and No More Problems. Just Throwing that out there! Took me Forever to figure that one Out. Oh and it was a Made in China Part. I put Oem back in!

Just Love Technology! Gimme Points, Pushrods & 8 Track Tape players!

Enjoy,

KC

Did you ever figure out your issue?

This happened a few times. I found later on the battery went bad and corroded up my positive terminal. I replaced the battery and cleaned up the terminal real well. Cranked ok for while and now back to no start. Battery is ok. I'm stuck now. Getting plenty of power to lights, windows, radio etc. Tried jumping. I think it's a wiring issue or starter/solenoid problem. Also, suspect a possible issue with PATS/Ignition cylinder. Any solutions/ideas? OP did you find out your problem. I'll be towing it to the dealer soon.
