I'm near Chicago.
I just checked on Fordowner.com for my car and it is still listed for the recall but status says...
"Status: 12 - RECALL INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE."
I have not gotten a letter yet.

Had my airbag inflator replaced this morning. Got the letter two days ago -- it said to call my local dealer for an appointment. I called and made an appointment for this morning. They said they had the parts, but I was prepared for them to tell me, "Oops - Sorry" when I got there. Not only did they have the part, they replaced it in about 30 minutes and had me ready to go.
I'm glad that's one thing I don't have to worry about any more! This is a fairly new dealership, and I've been pretty impressed with them so far.

This has been an ongoing thing for me. I have an 05 GT and the original airbag was replaced back in March of 2015 per the Ford recall. Then in July of 2015 I got a letter from Ford telling me that the airbag needed to be replaced again and they would send me a letter when parts were available. I guess Ford thinks that the replacement airbag might also be defective. In February of 2016 i called my dealer and they told me parts were still not available for my car. and to wait until I got a letter from Ford that the parts are in. So I then emailed Ford about the issue in February 2016 and they responded by stating that I need to wait until I get another letter from them stating that parts are available. As of 5/25/16 I still had not heard from Ford about the parts availability so I sent them another email asking them if the car was safe to drive and what is taking so long to get parts in. Here is a funny part. Ford told me to ask the technician at the dealership that installed the replacement airbag if it is defective. In my opinion, how the Hell would he know if it is defective or not? Then the email stated that NHTSA administrator Mark Rosekind encouraged customers to bring their vehicles in for service as soon as they are notified the parts are in, but he said they should continue to drive their vehicles until then. Ford went on to say in their response to me that I will receive notification "sometime in the very near future about the availability of parts." It now has been over a year since the original airbag was replaced in my car and of course I have been driving it, but I am concerned what would happen if I was involved in a crash and had to depend on the airbag. It just seems to me that the owners of older cars are not on the high priority list of NHTSA, Takata, and Ford. My beef is that thousands of new cars are rolling off the assembly lines every day and they all have new airbags. I know that each airbag must be made for a specific model and year, but you'd think that Ford and Takata would take the time to make a higher priority replacing the airbags in older cars to get this problem resolved once and for all. I'm not just using this post to pick on Ford, I love my Mustang and it is well cared for and I also own a 2015 Explorer so I support the company but it seems to me that the safety of owners who own older cars is taking a back seat to getting airbags into new cars. I do believe that Takata is the source of the problem not Ford and all the car companies are probably doing the very same thing.

I read somewhere that Ford was targeting the older cars first in (mostly Southern) states where the humidity is normally high. I guess that's why I got the letter saying to schedule the replacement as soon as possible, and was able to get mine replaced today. Since yours is an '05, you should hopefully be able to get yours replaced in the near future.

Which Air Bags
So I'm wondering which airbags are faulty. Autoweek magazine had an article that said at least one injury was caused by a side air bag. First I have read anything about on Steering Wheel air bags being faulty. May have seen something about the passenger side front airbag being faulty.
Any thoughts or first hand knowledge?

Just heard that as of today, 6/1/16, Ford is recalling 1.9 million more cars for passenger side airbag inflators. '05-11 Mustangs are included. Here we go again!!
