That video is an eye opener, literally. So, you can disconnect the airbag, but what if you are in an accident and try to file an insurance claim either for personal injury or damage to your vehicle or someone else driving it? They find that your airbag was tampered with and deny your claim? Or you get into legal trouble? What I can't understand is why there isn't another airbag manufacturer. Why can't the airbags that go into the 2016 vehicles be retrofitted to ours? My guess is that Ford doesn't want to foot the bill. Hell, even if that's the case I'd pay for it to be installed myself.

I unhooked mine and feel happy about it. I don't have the feeling of, is there a bullet in the chamber or not when the trigger is pulled.

So do we have any recourse against Ford on this? Seems like they don't care that we are playing Russian Roulette with our air bags. I don't really want to disconnect, but I do not want my head blown off either. Does Deisha at Ford Service have any answers?

Ford isn't the problem, it's the airbag canister makers problem. The service manager at my local Ford dealer had his airbag canister replaced under recall a couple of years ago in his 2007 Mustang, only to have a recall on his recall . He can't get his recall taken care of and he works for a Ford dealer .

Every time I turn on the news there is another pile of cars being added to the list. This will never end. Takata will disappear into bankruptcy before this will ever be fixed. SOMEONE HELP US!!!

I just hear crickets, no one is there to fix this, or seems to care...

Beyond this, Ford cannot decide who gets the replacement airbags first; that's the NHTSA and they have not named our cars as high-priority models.

Yeah when high volume cars like Honda Accords are on the list, it means we're gonna be waiting a long time unfortunately

It's not the volume - it's which cars are most at risk for the problems. Ours are thankfully lower.

Just got a letter from Ford saying they expect the replacement airbag module to be available in the fourth quarter of this year. Looks like there's finally light at the end of the tunnel...

^^^^ +1 here too.

Of course mine will be tucked away for the winter, so hope they still have some in the spring...

Got a letter in the mail yesterday, stating a replacement part is available, and to schedule an appointment with my dealer.

Guess I am going to schedule the appointment. Hate going to the local dealer. They always find a way to mess something up.

I received my letter yesterday.

"An Airbag inflator rupture could result in metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death"

Hey guys! We have a live frag grenade in our steering wheel!

Makes no sense how the letters are going out. I just checked online with my VIN on the Ford site. Parts still not available.

Your location likely has something to do with it. According to the manufacturer areas of high absolute humidity are more likely to have failures. So the bulk of allocations are likely distributed that way.

Ford clearly got a big delivery of replacement parts, which is good to see!
