Air Bubbles in Boss LS Stripes

First off, let me say thanks to Deysha. The car came in on Friday and she kept me informed all along the long wait.

When you get to a dealership to pick up your dream car you are pretty excited. I looked the car over and it looked good to me so I completed the transaction and drove home. Saturday I detailed the car and discovered air bubbles in the hood stripe and both side stripes. It looks like crap. I understand this isn't the first occurance of this. So, my question to Deysha is what recourse do I have? When you spend that much on a car, especially a limited production car, you expect things to be 100% correct. Other than that, I'm really pleased with the car. In fact its AWSOME!.

Deysha, another question for you. When the key was removed from the plastic bag that it was stored in the person ripped it out of the bag rather than simply opening the press lock. When they did that, it looks like they folded the card that is affixed to the "Red" Trackey. It's that small laminated credit card size card. Who can I contact to get a replacement card as the keepsake I have is now damaged. Small detail, but I'm hoping to get that corrected.

Thanks.

The bubbles will go away. Give it 2 weeks in the sun and they will be gone. It's most likely water trapped underneath from the application.

Ok, I'll wait it out. I sure hope they go away but I'd still like to here from Ford Customer Care on the bubble issue. Does anyone know who I would call to get that replacement card affixed to the Red key? Is it Ford Racing? By the way, I've spent a few hours now detailing the car and I have to say I'm very impressed on the fit and finish on this one. The paint may be the best I've ever seen in any of my cars. One question, can the fuel door be adjusted, it's slightly off on the hinge side, laying deeper, ever so slightly, than the body.

Love this car, what a work of automotive art.

Hello hpfisterer,

Congrats on your new ride. You need to speak to your dealer as soon as possible regarding the stripes and the fuel door. Regarding the card, you can contact Ford Racing at 1-800-367-3788. I don’t think they can replace it, but it does not hurt to try.

You can help it along by making the most tiniest hole with the tip of a small needle. If this sounds too scary, then leave it alone and will be gone in a few weeks in the sun. Whatever you choose, don't try to push on it with your fingers. You'll disperse the air/water into other pockets of the decal. I know it's tempting because it has your attention. Trust me, don't touch, press down or push on the bubbles.

Congrats on your new ride!.

DO NOT DO THIS. That is fine if this were a sign we were talking about or stripes that you didn't care if they lasted more than a few years. Last thing you want to do is poke several holes in the vinyl. Do the smart thing and bring it back to the dealer. End of story.

Very true. The average life of the vinyl is a few years either way. Agreed adrenalin... Heck the dealership needs to fix what they didn't do right the first time!

Ugggh but Being the OCD person I am, in my mind, the stripes would no longer be the "original factory" ones that came with the car during build. (don't laugh) also I'd fear whatever new damage the service techs may do while removing and re-applying the second set. Don't forget the service techs playing around with your car as well. We know they do when we are not looking. Either way, sincerely hope it works out for the best.

The bubbles will go away. I can't believe you guys are telling him to take it back to the dealer. It's not that big of a deal.

Dealers have heat guns and guys who are paid to use said heat guns. It's the fastest and best way. I wouldn't have time either for a $50,000 limited production car to lose air bubbles.
