I just wanted to share with you what I'm trying to get done. 3 dealerships have turned me away for every reason you could possibly think of. Reasons are usually something like 'we don't make any money off that' or 'take it back to the selling dealer since you bought it from them' or 'you didn't buy the car from us so we need to get to our customers that have bought cars from us'.


The selling dealer did look at it. The guy was terrified to work on it. I left it at the selling dealership and when I got it back, they said 'they got it as close as they could'. I inspected the car. It was exactly the way I left it with them + a new dent below my driver's side door latch. Below is what I'm trying to get Ford to fix but they just won't have it.


I'm going to a different dealer I haven't tried yet on Tuesday. Hopefully they will help.


I have spoken with a private body shop and they agree they can get my panels lined up a lot better but they advised it will take quite an effort. Which I completely understand. They est. 840$ labor. Yikes!

Mine are a little off as well but I just let it go. It's not a Ferrari nor did I pay a Ferrari price for it.

 

escalate this to forum ford tech support. she will sure help you out if this can be fixed.

 

I also have a slight alignment with the drivers side door and the front fender. I'm sure when I bring my 2014 GT in for service the body shop can adjust the door to fit better. It is ashamed with any new car quality inspections fail to catch a problem. The person who inspects the car last should be ashamed of themselves to let a car though with obvious gaps, especially to the trained eye.

 

Did you buy it brand new? I wonder if there's been work done to it after an accident or something.

 

My driver side fender is not as flush as I would like it to be. I wouldn't let a dealer mess with it unless they have a body shop. They would probably just make it worse. Unfortunately, fit and finish is not a strong point on the Stang. Sad really, when they made the 2015 a global car. Hopefully they brought the standards up a bit higher, but I doubt it. Still the same guys on the assembly line putting it together.
OP - the hood is a mess. That would really bother me. I don't think the fender to door gaps will get much better but it would be nice to at least have them fit flush and not have one stick out past the other.
Unless Ford authorizes a body shop repair, I would not let a service dept. mess with it. Was the hood removed when the engine was rebuilt or was it dropped through the bottom?

 

I had the same reaction. The gaps seem typical of an improper unibody sway repair.

 

The only gap I have noticed is in the hood, about halfway up on each side, it seems to bow up a little bit beyond the side quarter panels.

It's barely noticeable. I have seen worse gaps on Toyota's, Nissans, and Hondas which are supposedly known for their quality. That and of course the rear decklid which is a known issue and easily repaired, but it still hasn't gotten bad enough to bother taking it in.

Your hood gap looks like an easy alignment fix though. That one is pretty bad. My gap might have even been my own fault. the hood is aluminum. I have had to learn how to shut it differently than I would a normal hood. As the hood locking mechanism takes quite a bit of force.

 

I am laughing out loud. I guess you thought you were buying a Lexus. It's made in Detroit. My 2012 GT Vert is exactly the same where the door front meets the fender. I wasn't too happy either when I too delivery from a 10 week factory order. But my car is white and imperfections aren't nearly s obvious on a white car. (Why I ordered it after 3 black cars.) Get used to it. There many more good things about this car that out weigh these little nuances.

As mentioned, it's not an exotic sports car- it's a Ford. The hood alignment can easily be fixed by adjusting the bump stops and fenders. The fenders have 4 or 5 upper bolts (located under the hood). Just loosen, position, and re-tighten. A 5 minute fix. The door/fender gaps are a little more involved... Whatever you do, don't take it to the dealership. They'll make it worse.
