No solution has been posted in this forum that I'm aware of. Just educated guesses. My car did this so bad I ask the technician if he forgot to put the oil in the car. Lol.

****... My just did it randomly yesterday. Not after an oil change or anything. The funny thing is I can't hear it unless I park next to something. I wonder how long this has been going on since I typically try to not park next to anyone haha.

Same here. It can only be heard in my garage after a long hot drive.

It's a very tiny tick and nothing like the examples in this thread but it still concerns me.

Mine has a slight tick after an oil change for a few hundred miles, then it goes away completely. Using Mobil 1 5w20 full synthetic and motocraft filter.

When you guys rev the engine does your tick get faster with your engine revs?

Ok so what do you guys think? Ford must know what this tick issue is by now right? Are they just not saying as its a big issue and they are trying to hide it? Or a little issue and no big deal? What do you all think? Frankly I think they know exactly what it is but are keeping it quiet.

I agree with you! They know exactly what it is, maybe the fix is to costly and/or its not a serious issue.

I just don't like the fact that you change your oil and then there is this annoying tick that you have to wait a couple hundred miles for it to go away. Just doesn't sit well with me.

Can't hear it over the exhaust when revved.

I'm getting its second oil change next week. I'll keep everyone posted and of the tick gets louder.

I don't like that either it's so odd... I don't have the tick yet but listen for it after every oil change I feel like it's just a matter of time before it rears its ugly head.

I had a Volvo 960 in the early 90's with a 2.9 litere straight 6 that had a tick you could notice after every oil change and I finely traced it to the cam or cam lobe spinning and slapping the flat bucket tapit or what ever you call what it was hitting. The motor had a rather large oil fill and when you removed it you could see at leased two cam lobes in the head and with it running watch the cam spin and strike the round bucket. It did not seem to effect it though I managed to put 300,000 miles on that car. Not saying that's the case with our cars but just saying.

Have you guys had this diagnosed at your local Ford Dealer and spoken with your service manager? He is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed.

You can schedule an appointment online here.

Forgive my ignorance. I was under the impression that the tick sound was the valves wiring and tapping away?

For reference: My tick sounds more like a tap on a window from a little finger and nothing like the time bomb sound that others have posted here.

Mine is distinctly metallic in sound. Almost like a loose bolt or something.

Some ticking is normal, ( I believe fuel injector tick is the most common people hear). When this sound happens you'll know it. As I described before, it sounds like no oil is in the engine (severe lifter / rocker ticking). But no one seems to know. If mine does it again at an oil change, it will be staying there until someone figures it out.

Changed the oil yesterday. Nothing out of the ordinary but the faintest tick. Once again, nothing like you all are experiencing.
