I also agree with Jim. Something has happened around the post for that to start suddenly, and it must be pretty bad. That is a massive amount of corrosion. A while back I had a battery develop a small crack in the top of the case that you could actually see, and even it wasn't corroding nearly that bad.

that pic is after three or four table spoons fell off. I first notice because I seen a pile of it in the garage.
I called the dealer and they are still working on the rattles. I am now four days with out my car.

What dealer is it at????
Well this certainly looks familiar! Your dealer likely added water to the battery when your car was serviced. I added distilled water to my battery @ 5,143 miles just prior to the one-year in-service anniversary. I then charged it overnight with my CTEK 3.3A charger. Less than 11 weeks later, I found the corrosion on the positive terminal @ 5,700 miles. The car is always clean, dry, garaged and used little. My theory is that the battery vented and the corrosive gas was trapped under the red battery insulator. The red insulator now sports several perforations and there has been no reoccurance after I cleaned up the mess and coated both terminals with dielectric compound. I would buy an AGM battery in a heartbeat if there were one correctly sized for this application.

so I got the car back a few days ago from Bell Ford. The battery was cleaned up but they had white spots all under the hood from power washing the area. Before I left I got my service guy and the manager seen and followed us out. It looked like a tub of cool whip exploded on the battery side of the engine bay. The tech also came out that worked on the car and said "its hard water". I called BS and said if it was hard water it would be every where under the hood. They allied a purple protective gell on the post with the problem. They said they did not find a problem with the battery. They had about two or three square inchs of the purple stuff on my strut tower bar. The manage stepped in and said they would wash it again. He then stated they wanted me to be happy and they want to keep my business. I was told they had to order my part for the rattle and to come back in a few days when they get the part in.
Today I installed my rear deck speakers and reinstalled my "powered by ford" motor covers. I found that my back seat was covered in grease from the guy working on the rattle. I also found two of the plastic screws were missing. I also found all the white spots that were left on the upper motor cover would not come off when I was detailing the enigne bay.

Looks to me like you definitely have a leaking battery and as another member has mentioned, the gases are collecting under the red protective terminal cap. I wouldn't be surprised if the leak wasn't directly under the cap at the positive terminal. Perhaps a tech twisted around on the connection while trying to unhook the battery at some point and twisted hard enough to break the case around the positive post. To have that much corrosion, you must have a leak very nearby the terminal.
I would be upset at their "clean up" of the battery post and the surrounding engine bay area, as well. That is TOTALLY unacceptable! They should have immediately replaced the battery and possibly the positive terminal cable, as it will be hard to get every bit of corrosion out of/ off of the metal terminal clamp and return it to a "like new" or no more than 4 months old condition. The mess they left in your engine bay is another matter..........they must have some incompetent people working there, who care little about keeping their customers cars looking sharp. If they had just pulled the battery and positive cable in the first place, you wouldn't have ended up with such a blatant mess in your engine compartment.

Ok..that looks like c..p! Time to stop being the nice guy and play a little hard ball. Go to the GM, tell him what you want, a new battery, and new cable ends, the engine cover cleaned or replaced. Show him all the photos you have posted. If he gives you a hard time contact the Better Business Bureau in Dearborn, MI. You can do this on line. This takes the complaint to Ford Corporate and believe me they do not like this. Also contact Ford customer service (PM Deysha on the forum, if you have not already done so). You can try this first, as once the BB gets involved she will not be able to intervene. This is completely unacceptable on a new car.

Man I tell you I hate Bell Ford with a passion..... Take it to Sanderson or Berge, if Berge talk to Derrick Ironside he is my rep there and has always taken very good care of me and my family....

I quit going to berge because they all most killed me in my 06 vert. A few years ago they changed out the bearing on the front passenger side and the tech didnt put the brakes back together right. I found that out going down the 60 doing 70mph. The car jumped two lanes over when the caliper started to dig into the wheel. I talked with Mr. baker(I think, the main service manager) and he said they might be able to cover the wheel and maybe fix it. His maybe we can maybe we cant talk made me feeluneasy about them touching my car again. I almost died because of that two days after christmas.

I just got off the phone with the service manager at bell ford. They will be calling to confirm me dropping the car off monday. I am very happy that waiting and not going over board and making threats has worked out. I always try to remember that I am talking to people and work to get them over to my side and find it to much more help.
