2010 Mustang GT - Cluch out at 50k

Hi guys,

I brought my car to the dealer yesterday due to my clutch engagement being wonky and inconsistent (engages low then high). I've just hit 50k on it, drive it civilized and don't slip the clutch. With my previous car (a 2001 VW GTI) I hit 150k before needing to change the clutch.

The dealer checked everything out supposedly and said everything checks out fine except for the clutch being worn. Is this pretty normal with the s197 gts? I apologize if this has been asked before. Any advice is greatly appreciated. BTW the car is completely stock.

Thanks.

That seems pretty early, but not completely crazy either. I'd say it could be your driving style but if you got 150K out of the GTI's clutch, you obviously know how to drive stick correctly too. This is a hard one since your car is going on four years old and the clutch disc is considered a wear item, so not covered under the powertrain warranty. What'd they quote you for a cost to replace?

Yeah I decided to bite the bullet and get it done. Initially they quoted 1500 but the brought it down to 1240. I was thinking about going aftermarket because I plan to put a supercharger in soon but decided to go OEM. Might not have been the smartest decision.

Wow. That's more than the $600-$800 I was guessing.
