Where to run/hide the microphone + gps antenna cable?
Where to run/hide the microphone + gps antenna cable?
I need some help where I should run the cables for the gps antenna and the microphone of my Alpine head unit. The search didn't bring up any results for that question.
I am going to install the Alpine with the metra 99-5823ch kit and I have no idea where to put the mic / antenna. As far as I know, most people put the mic close to the interior lights, which is also my prefered location. But than I don't know how to run the wires up there (never did that before). Maybe you guys can help and post some pics?!
For the gps antenna I was thinking about installing it on the dash, but I'd prefer a more hidden location. Any suggetions?

Look at the pdf here for running the gps: http://www.americanmuscle.com/raxiom...u-install.html
Thanks, the raxiom version to place the antenn isn't mine. I am not going to put it outside, I rather put it somewhere on the rear panel near ...
The idea for the mic sounds good, waiting for some pics.

I put my mic on top of the left A pillar trim rather than the center. that way it's closer to my head. works fine. I put GPS antenna under the dashpad, just to the right of the tach. if you pop off the chrome trim rings, you can get your hand in there. even though it's under the plastic dash, there is still a clear line of sight to the GPS sats.
Heres the pics. I apologize if its hard to see. Houston has been pretty gloomy lately.
Runs Behind the Apilar trim. (Edit: lightened the picture)

Clipped to the Visor bar

i did mine like this... bought a dome light that had the motion sensor and put the mic into that and insulated with some foam.

However i recently decided to go this route and will be installing this dome light which has a microphone, im going to retro fit my mic into this mic's housing since it looks just like an f150 sync mic on the underside of this map light.

so i'll break it open like i did once before like this

.... help!
I just installed my Alpine with the Metra 99-5823CH kit and guess what, the Alpine does not work. The Metra kit works great.
Maybe it is because of my adapter, it's a mustang/iso adapter but not the PAC thing. The problem seems to be the missing acc signal and I have no idea how get it done!
Or do I have to get that PAC adapter. Even numeros wiring diagrams didn't help.
Any ideas?
by the way ... it's not the Alpine, had it checked at a local shop
