I would think you'd have to get a 2013 VIN from a nav car to get your updates.

My unit is a 2010 nav and it goes into my 2012 with no issues. I even used a 2012 dash harness. Everything plugged in where it was supposed to.

Without looking at the 2013 wiring diagrams, I would bet it would plug right in. But you would still need to look into it. Finding a 2013 nav might be pretty tough, though.

Hey,

For those of you that have a 2012 Mustang with navigation:

I need the part number and serial number for the amplifier in the trunk. It is on the passenger side. It may be on a bracket, which I would need a part number for as well.

I've tried the dealerships around here and phoned a few out of province as well, but no one can tell me exactly what amp I need. It is not the Shaker 1000 amp I'm looking for.

Failing this, if I go aftermarket, what amp is recommended, and do I need a PAC or something? When it come to that stuff, I know nothing.

Thanks. I'll PM him.

In the mean time, can someone help me with the part numbers?

Cheers

Did more research. Some tinkering with the main body harness is required to get the factory amp to work. Replacing the main body harness is out of the question. I can still get it to work, but ...

... this is a good excuse to get an aftermarket amp. But I still haven't heard from anyone through PM or on here about what amp I should get and what else I may need. The guys at the audio store are quoting me as much as $1500.

As they are trying to sell something to me, I need an unbiased opinion as to what would be a good amp to get good sound with the factory speakers, and if I need anything else like a PAC?

Cheers

Definitely have me interested. I love the look with the NAV. And don't like the look of the aftermarket options. Thanks for all the work you guys did for the rest of us

Wow, so much great info here, I guess I have hope after all of the OEM look. Any chance of a full right up with part numbers?

Working on it.

I just want to get the amp in, and the final harness for the climate system and I'm done.

I haven't gotten any feedback on an aftermarket amp, but I did see in a separate thread about going with the JBL MS-8. But that is $375 - $800, so I'm just going to get the factory amp and the pigtails to go with it for $150. Too much for me at this time. Maybe in the future I'll upgrade.

ar3z 18B849 C - amp

wpt 955 - pigtail
wpt 998 - pigtail

When it all comes in, I'll give a parts list and let you know if the sound issue and reversed temp is all fixed.

Sorry I forgot to reply to your PM. The MS-8 is what I was going to suggest to you. You could source a used one off DIYmobile.com. It would be a FAR better usage of your money if you could get it around $350-400, versus $150 for the OEM amp + whatever the wiring costs. Just save up another two weeks. Come on now, you've gone this far and spent that much. Do it right.

I would, but at $375 plus shipping for the cheapest one I cold find on Ebay that would ship to Canada, I'm over budget on this project.

The $150 for the OEM amp and pigtails will hold me over until spring. If the sound just isn't there, I'll get the JBL MS-8 as you suggested and sell this to someone else that is doing the nav swap.

Right now, I just want sound back and don't want to wait until mid January when I have some more free cash. But at least now I know what amp to get. I assume that speakers are not needed with this amp? The OEM speakers will do? If speakers are needed, then I'll leave it with the OEM stuff.

The final parts I need will be delivered in a couple of weeks. So that's the sunload sensor, climate system harness, amp and pigtails.

Everything else works. All buttons work (temp is reversed - should be fixed with climate system harness and sunload sensor). Nav works, DVD playback works, sync works etc... .

Cheers.

You'd be much better off having the flexibility of the MS-8 first, see if you can get your OEM speakers to sound how you want, than get OEM amp and swap out the speakers later. It all depends on what you're going for. There's a lot of people who swap out just the speakers and are happy - that wouldn't be me.

can you add a sub to the MS-8?

Also, how did you get all your nav parts for so cheap?! where did you pick up your screen?

Got my final set of parts today. I snapped in the sun sensor no problem, but as it is minus 20 degrees celcius, I won't be putting in the amp and climate system harness until it warms up. Maybe next Sunday.

I got my nav parts from a wrecked 2010 Mustang. $600 for the ACM, monitor, harness (which was wring for my year) and the center console face plate. I have had to buy on top of that the proper harness for my year, and amp with the pigtails, Climate system harness and the sunload sensor. That should be all I need.

Did you get them local at a place that had salvage cars or did you find it online?

I found them online. I've seen the nav twice on Ebay as well.

Try here:

http://www.car-part.com/

For parts, try partscheap.com or Tousley Ford. Shop around if you have to buy a part new. Especially if it is the dash harness you need.

I have a harness for a 2010 I will sell if you need that.

You need:

nav ACM (with or without heated seats)
nav center console faceplate (with or without heated seats)
main dash harness
sun load sensor
climate system harness
GPS antannae harness
OEM amp with both pigtails (unless you go after market)

Nice work man. I'd love to add the nav, but I think trading up is going to be the way to go (along with adding the Recaros and a few other things). Props for pushing through and figuring this out. Once you get the whole process 10% working, let me know and let's get a how-to and parts list, so others who might be interested can do this. I think you're on to something with the install.
