The antenna is powered. I used it as a switched source for my remote signal on an amplifier. I will have to look what colored wire you need to tap into.

is the antenna powered when the car is turned on or when the radio is turned on? and to 2014DIB - will you provide a write up when you have this project completed? im concerned about "reverse trigger wire" and tapping into a taillight..

But - advance warning - it will likely be a bit slow. Taking my time as this is not a DD - and have to keep the day job to pay for this stuff!

that would be great, im installing the factory camera spoiler (which im already aware of what color is what and actually tested it in my house hooked up to my tv and it works great)
next i have to get it repainted and install a new rear view mirror with an LCD built into it, test it, then ill install the spoiler...

DeeJayTJ - I ended up going with Kenwood for both the Head Unit and the Back-Up camera. With this set-up - the camera power along with video is at the Head Unit side. So, it eliminated the need to tie into anything in the trunk. So, all I had to do was wire it up into the HU power/ground and connect RCA video (along with another million wires back there now!), leaving the one wire/cable to run back to the trunk and out to the camera.
A bit more expensive - but - simplified the install as well. Did get a great deal at Sound of TriState.
Have not run the cable back to the trunk yet - waiting for it to cool off a little bit out there.
Good luck with the factory set-up!

Under the trunk lid mat do you have a connector not being used? The spoiler camera would plug into the harness there.
I went to the GT500 spoiler and had to add a aftermarket camera. I tied the camera back into the wiring harness there, but my car was ordered with the backup camera. If you have the harness, here is the pin outs that worked for me.
Switched 12v - WH-VT = RED Pin 1
Ground - BK-VT = BLACK Pin 3
Video Sheild - = BARE SHEILD - pin 4 (also black)
VIDEO + WH-GN = WHITE Pin 6
Video - BN-VT = WHITE pin 7

Yep, that is were I got the information when I wired mine in. But the harness is not under the spare tire. You have to remove the cover that is on the bottom of the trunk lid to get access to it.

If i can just deposit my 5 cents. I had to hook a wire up to the rear backup wire for my auto dimming wire and had to run the wire through my car. once you tape the wire white/blue I think....dont quote me on that. Then you just run it under the liners and fold the rears seats and take off the bottom of the seats then run the wire throughout the plastic on the side and run it through the door sills.
