Basically, what they will do is tell the system the ACM was replaced and needs the as-built-data loaded. It may help to explain that to them since it is not a common procedure, nor is it one that is taught as a means of upgrading a steering wheel.

Below is the ACM as-built-data for a Boss 302. As you can see, there really isn't much to ACM as-built data. The 727-nn-nn parts aren't even part of the data, they just identify where the following data goes. I checked several Boss 302s and they were all identical. And the only difference to my car's as-built data is the very first line which must define the steering wheel.

I plan to publish as-built data for Premiums, GT500s and hopefully 18R (ornamentation package) steering wheels after more research. I suspect it may not even matter which is used since all those wheels use the same stereo controls. Some just also have a Sync button which of course will never work in a base car.

For a Premium or GT500 wheel, I would give them a VIN of a car without audio upgrades. It probably doesn't matter, but why risk it until more is known.

So take them a VIN for a car that came with the steering wheel you are adding so they can look up the as-built-data. They aren't hard to find in dealer on-line inventories, eBay, auto-trader, etc.. I would take the VIN even if you can provide the data just in case the dealer wants to double check themselves.

Sample Boss 302 ACM as-built-data:

727-01-01 0044 908B 64F3
727-01-02 0435
727-02-01 2E5F
727-03-01 1446
727-04-01 0033
727-05-01 0007 2F57 5B1C
727-05-02 765B 572F 0793
727-06-01 000A 3335 5C03
727-06-02 645C 3533 0A68
727-07-01 000A 3335 5C04
727-07-02 645C 3533 0A69
I have a guy that works at Lenoir City Ford, just West of Knoxville, TN that is willing to program the ACM. He is doing this on his own time so he doesn't want people calling him at the dealership. If you need his contact information, shoot me a PM and I'll give it to you.
