shift **** and boot removal

Wanting to install my new GT premium optional shift **** and GT500 boot. Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the existing **** and boot? Does the existing boot just pop off with a screw driver? Thx

boot is attached to the console. you need to pop out the console to detach the boot.

Here's the link to my thread where you can see what the boot looks like after you take the old one out. There are tabs all the way around the bottom of the console. The shift **** just twists off like you are unscrewing a bottle cap. Some of the tabs are tricky so use a 1/8" thick flat tip to get them off.

you kind of have to yank it up and off. start from the back half and get a firm grip and pull up.
