All this talk about bass and three ways has me wondering a few things...

1. Why would you need more bass when there is an 8 inch woofer to cover the lowest of freq?
2. in reality the door speaker set-up from the factory mimics a component set-up with the 5x7/ 6x8 covering the mids/highs and the 8" covering the low bass right??
3. I agree with those that went with the more effecient speaker but ideally wouldn't you want to try and match the factory sensetivity to keep the overall balance of the system??
I mean without an eq there is only so much adjustment bass and treble will allow.
Although the shaker system has it's limitations for the price of admission it does a decnt job for 90% of the people out there. I may invest in some aftermarket speakers in the future but I have a full list of mods that will be done before I get to that point.

Sorry, I'm new to this aftermarket car audio business. I just ordered those Pioneer TSD6802R speakers for my 2011 Mustang with the Shaker 500. Just wondering if I need a wire harness like:

As well? Thanks!

The Pioneer TSD6802R speakers for the price are a GREAT upgrade. You must do the Front & Rear to hear the true sound of the upgrade for the money. I think (for Me) the $160 with shipping was the best changed item on the car. IT ALL ABOUT THE SOUND, inside or out!!!!!!!

After reading about all the speaker reviews for the Shaker 500, I decided to install some TS-A6874Rs for $50 in the front doors. Makes a huge difference. I'm not so motivated to do anything else with my system now.

Did you run them off the Stock amps, plug 'n' play?

Looks like those are the better of the two anyhow!? Especially for the price....

Yeah that's what I thought too. Basically plug and play. You just need the pigtail adapter. They mount clean and plug right up. Everything else is stock. It may be in my head but I think they sound even better after a couple months of use. Ive never heard of speakers needing to be broken in though.

Most speakers go through a "seasoning" phase. I think some of the shelby kickers even mention in their instructions something to that effect.

Interesting, we'll they sound great now and definitely worth the $50 I paid for them. A clear improvement over stock. I may eventually replace the rear deck but am very happy for now.
