Shaker 500 upgrades?
Shaker 500 upgrades?
Hello everybody!
I searched the forums and found lots of great info in the past about speaker upgrades for my 2011 Mustang GT with Shaker 500 system.
A few months ago, I took some good advise and replaced my front speakers with Pioneer TS-D6802Rs. For the money, it was a fantastic upgrade.
Upgrades can be addicting, so lately I've been searching for ways to improve my entire sound system. There is a lot of good info, but I'm having trouble making heads or tails of what would be good for me.
What I want:
A better, cleaner sound with more bass. Perhaps with an amp and subwoofer?
A setup that will allow me to continue using the stock HU and SYNC.
A clean setup where I can still use most of the trunk.
I'll continue to research in the forums, but if anybody can give me advise on a nice setup, I'd really appreciate it!!!
Thanks!

It really depends on how much money you want to spend and how loud/clean you want it to sound. You can get a ready made enclosure with sub from MTX or JL Audio that don't take up much more room than the Shaker1000 box and fit in the same area. I just bought a JL Audio Stealthbox for my '12. You can just add a mono sub amp with a line level converter and run the factory amp on upgraded door and deck speakers, and it will sound pretty good. The Audiocontrol Lc2i is the best solution for getting a clean signal to the bass amp for that setup.
I was originally just going to upgrade the 4 speakers and add a bass amp and sub, but after upgrading the speakers, it still wasn't loud enough for me, so I'm going all out with an Audiocontrol DQL-8 factory integration processor that lets me keep my factory nav radio, Alpine PDX-V9 5 channel amp, and the aforementioned JL Stealthbox. Hopefully I'll get it together in the next couple weeks and get some pictures posted.
