Recaro Passenger Seat Height Adjustment
Recaro Passenger Seat Height Adjustment
Hi all,
I have a 2014 Performance Package v6 with the cloth recaros. My girlfriend and I both love the seats. But, my girlfriend is fairly short, and there are no adjustment options on the passenger side.
So my question: What is the best, safest way to increase the height of the passenger side recaro? I've done some googling and seen some ideas, but nothing definitive. Ideally I'd like to see the seat raised about 10cm from stock, if possible, but I'm not willing to compromise the safety in a crash scenario.
Thanks for any input! You're the best, reader of this post.

raising 10cm is a pretty huge amount for a non-adjustable seat. My wife has the same problem, as she's 5'2 and sits quite low, but we have just dealt with it. I would think the only really safe option would be either have a new set of mounting brackets welded to the car or to get a new set of rails for the seat that elevate it. I have never researched, so I don't know what options are there (perhaps only custom?). Just thinking out loud those ar the two safe options I can think of. Would be interested if you think up anything else.
There is also always the "phonebook" option - or some other alternate optoin for adding some padding to the seat.

the passanger seat on my 2010 camaro had that problem. they make a spacer bracket that you bolt down to the floor and then you bolt the seat to that bracket. i dont remember where i bought it from though. it appeared very tough, tougher than the seat its self actually.
10cm is a lot, whatever you do needs to be very strong.
And then there is the airbag to consider, it is designed for the stock seat height, might be dangerous for your girl with the seat raised up.
And then there is the fact that it would look strange up that high compared to the drivers seat.

Thanks for the advice, all! It seems like a custom bracket would be the best choice then. I'm very mindful of the safety implications, and washers and longer bolts seems like a bad solution to me.
If you can find out where you bought that I'd be forever grateful!

Funny story here as well. My mom is only 4' 11" and the first time I took her for a back road spin she freaked out! We were approaching an uphill into a downhill sweeper to the right and all she could see was the house in front of us and she screamed "watch out"! I go around the corner (I wasn't going very fast) and I look at her like what are you yelling about? She then goes on to explain what she sees. So I can understand now what she sees and it would be very scary! The solution is she brings a pillow now or we take my DD!
