My dash..Vinyl wrapped.
They are plastic panels with a thin coating of aluminum on top. Which is why they are cold to the touch. You're both right. Obviously they're not solid pieces of aluminum...a) that would be insanely expensive, b) insanely dangerous for an airbag cover, c) insanely easy to bend and ding. Even luxury manufacturers use plastic panels with thin wood layers on top of the plastic. No one makes actual solid wood or metal panels anymore....

I had the same issues with the corners not sticking to the rounded radio display despite using adhesion promoter.
My solution has been to use CJ Pony Parts Aluminum trim and not attempt cover the corners.

i love it and that is how you tell......your senses...the **** dash panel on my 2012 Brembo is metal call it what you want.....i had my g/f tongue it and she confirmed.....
ROTFLMAO.......
I like it. Looks like the 330Ci 2005 ZHP Coupe factory BMW.....what was so weird about the BMW the carbon fiber look was somehow stenciled on aluminum metal pieces.....many ZHP/Performance Package BMW's had a lot of wear on the driver door handle to due keys etc scratching the hella out of it......but almose identical in look to the 1080........
good job and i like it...........

OP- great job, looks great.
The trim ring solution is clever too.
The dash covering on my '14 GT Premium looks like aluminum in a houndstooth pattern. Not too bad, actually, but I have some 3M Di-noc film samples on the way (they have a red leather, and if the color is close enough to my red seats, I'm thinking of covering the dash in red.
Is it difficult to remove the dash covers (especially the ones that cover the airbag)? In just three weeks, I've had two different passengers ask "Um, where do those metal panels go if the airbag deploys on my side?"
The carbon fiber leather in the Z4 is amazing looking- if I hadn't traded in my '07 coupe for the Mustang, I was going to take the plunge on the $1500 kit.

You guys are doing a great job. I'm thinking of giving it a try on mine. Quick question for those who have done the radio face. Are you wrapping the vinyl through the openings of the cd slot and temp controls, or cutting out the openings with something like a exacto knife?

If You Attempt a Wrap. I would Advise to Have a Slit in Middle of Airbag as it Could Cause an Odd Deployment if Sealed Over. It Will Open But Likely Not Correctly! That is If You Get in an Accident.
Anybody Else Out There Done the Wrap?? Got Any Tips To Help a Guy Out!
