Going from tan fabric to black leather.

eBay has black leather take offs for $ 350. Is that an okay price?

Where can I get a black door insert to replace the tan one?

Anyone do this themselfs?

Also says it comes with necessary foam. What foam would that be? Is fabric foam different from leather foam?

Easy swap using the same foam. I originally had tan cloth but swapped to black leather as well.
I got mine for 297 shipped from lance Cunningham ford. I see that the take offs are steadily going up... Much like the take off steering wheels.

Btw you can't switch just the leather door inserts. You have to replace the whole door panel! The leather insert is more than married to the plastic door. Trust me I've tried. A custom shop MAYBE could do it if you have the cash but you cant interchange the oem inserts. I personally left mine alone after I found out about how they are attached.

So you still have the tan insert with the black leather? Does it look okay?
Do you think carbon fiber wrap could go over it? That's a thought i was having if the wrap would stick to the insert.

Honestly, I was worried about the tan inserts as well and some of the tan plastic parts beforehand. However, the dash and the carpet are black. They are dominant enough to look correct.

I've seen someone do a reverse charcoal. (Tan leather seats with black panels and it looked great. Ours would be considered "reverse" stone.

Remember your door handles, belts, and trim accents are also black so they tie in as well. I'm not sure about the vinyl covering the inserts.

And yes. I'm keeping the insert tan. Costs too much to change out and it's really not noticeable.

Oh you have a lot of tan all around. I actually have all black everywhere front and back with the tan only on the 2 door inserts up front. Yours does look good and goes nicely.
I just ordered the leather... Yay.

Yes. My tan panels had me worried for a bit. Yours will look even better!

Any tough parts during install? Tools you didn't have or things you wish you did a different way?

Hog ring clips and pliers. Other than that you just need time and patience. There's a good video on YouTube about "installing leather seats in a mustang."

My seats covers came with new foam but i just used the old foam. Either way, they are the same foam on cloth and leather.
