Ford Sync
Hey guys I can't seem to get Sync to function by saying an artists name. I'll try "play artist ______" and it says "the media is not blah blah blah (can't remember exactly". All other's work. For example "play album ____", or " play genre ____".
I have an ipod connected through usb. Anyone else have this issue?

Same reply as the other thread:
Where did you buy the car?
Ford dealer?
My dealer has a SYNC specialist that will help with any issues a customer has and instruct them in how to use and access all the features.

First, I recommend checking to see if your particular iPod is compatible: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...atibility-sync Make sure you click the CONNECTS VIA USB box on the left.
I also recommend looking through your music library to verify that the artist name is listed in the correct category. There is a troubleshooting utility located on your account once you log in at: www.Support.Ford.com It's called Sync My iTunes and you may find it helpful. Click on SYNC SOFTWARE UPDATES at the bottom of your home page, then scroll down and click on DOWNLOAD SYNC MY ITUNES.

Oh man just another victim to Sync.....it is the worst piece of technology in any vehicle ever made. Lakersfreak, it will pretty much get to the point where you will have to pull the Sync fuse out for 10 minutes and put it back in. That will basically reset everything and it will work temporarily for about 2 weeks only to become an issue again. I've had so much input on what I should do with the Sync system to "fix" it that I just don't bother anymore. I suggest getting a loud exhaust so you can listen to that all day, instead of bothering with Sync.

Have you taken it to the dealership already, fivepointgo? They will be in the best position to diagnose what's causing this. I understand that you would prefer to avoid further troubleshooting, but let me know if you're interested in getting this escalated to your customer service manager. They can work with your dealer to help get this resolved.

I've never used Sync and don't really plan on it. If Microsoft crashes my computer, what's it going to do to my car lol. Wasn't really a selling point for me. Would have paid just the same whether it was there or not.

People trash Sync, but I have found it to work very well most of the time. It seems to me that most of the problems I see on this forum have to do with people who are trying to use iThis or iThat with Sync. Could it be that Microsoft didn't wish to play well with Apple stuff? Possibly. I use a USB thumb drive and have very few problems. Realize that Sync depends on the tags in your music files to relate to album, artist, track, etc. If the artist tag is not properly done, Sync won't recognize it. I wrote a Word doc that details how I setup my thumb drive and set the tags. I'll be happy to sent it to you. Just PM me with your email address.

I have not. I appreciate that, I'm going to be taking it in next month for it's first service. I have a full list of things that the dealer needs to look at including Sync (this is just through its first 4500 miles ). Is there another update in the works that would perhaps fix these reoccurring issues?
After you take your Mustang to the dealership, send me a PM to let me know how it goes. I want to make sure these issues get resolved.

Sorry about the mix up! I'm glad to see you are clicking the links I'm posting.
I replaced it with the correct website to avoid confusion for other users.
Just in case you were wondering why that was on my clipboard, I'll put an end to your curiosity. My coworkers Jaclyn and Becky wore green and purple to the office today. I told them they looked like the Hardy Boyz (professional wrestlers), which is why a random picture of WWE wrestlers was posted.
So far, Jeff and Matt Hardy have not made an appearance at our team meetings, but I'll definitely keep you guys in the loop if they ever do.
