Factory Homelink Visor

Actually, my 2007 had the alarm....there was room in the '07, but with the addition of the Passenger Air Bag lamp, I think you may be right. But it's a great way to go if you don't have the security package!

I also love having Homelink built in. It is so much easier than carrying the hand held unit, and it never needs batteries.
Having done this once before in my 2007 Mustang, I did it again in this one. I went on Ebay, bought a roaming Homelink unit for $15.00 and custom mounted it in the roof console. Just drill the holes, and hardwired it to the map lamp power wire.
It is not centered in my 2011 as it was in my 2007 because of the new airbag lamp. But it works perfectly, and it was very inexpensive!

I already posted a thread of my Homelink garage door opener install where i hid the unit inside the maplight housing and installed a momentary pushbutton in between the maplights. This solves the problem of stuffing the unit behind the airbag light and also the problem of not being able to install the homelink three buttons flush due to the thickness of the plastic maplight housing.
You can mount the homelink unit hidden anywhere in the Mustang and it will work with a remotely mounted momentary pushbutton.
Just check out my post in the original thread for details.

I have an alternate location you can attach your visor mount garage door opener. Pull the maplight housing off, slip the clip of the garage door opener rearward onto the headliner and reinstall the maplight housing. The garage door opener stays snug on the headliner right in front of the maplight housing.
