would the black boss **** just screw on in place of the aluminum ****?

 

Yup. Twist on, twist off, if you have the premium shifter already. If not, you need the premium boot as well.

 

I'm looking at adding the black boss shift **** to my 400A interior.

I know I will need to change my shift boot as well. It says I need the one from the 401A package but it doesn't look the same as in the picture of the boss ****

It is. You need the new boot, as the Billie style and the Boss ***** have a smaller dia, hole in the boot with a small chrome plastic piece. Be careful with the boot as my plastic piece was stuck to the shift **** when I took off the bullit shift ****. I had to put a dab of superglue on the bottom of the plastic piece. worked good though.

 

good to know fellas. I just joined. I'm in the market for a GT premium manual but I always wondered what was up w/ those shifters. The aluminum ball sets it off to me though! And it was 98 degree here today in STL. Hopefully my dealer calls me soon about one in my price range.
