CJPP shift **** adapter

So I finally got around to getting a new **** for my car. I obviously had to get an adapter to go along with it. I opted to get a chrome one to match the trim around the shift boot from CJPP. It arrived packaged nicely from silverhorseracing. Looked great.

Went to try and put it on to see what it would look like before the **** gets here. Made it down far enough to get stuck when it was flush with the top of the threads. Wouldn't go down any further. I had to use some rather large players and a microfiber towel to get it unscrewed. Damaged it in the process. The chrome chipped off on the ring portion that goes into the ring on the shift boot. Plus a couple of Knicks in the top that you won't really notice once the **** is on there. I went ahead and tried it on the stock shifter just to be sure. (I have a Barton). Yep, almost got stuck on that one too. Same story.

Decided it would be much more trouble than its worth to try and get a new one. Unless they chime in somehow and make that happen. I performed some car guy surgery and just drilled the threads out so that it will just slide down over the shifter threads. The **** will hold it down anyway so I'm not worried about it being threaded onto the shifter.

Pics when the app stops being stupid or I can get my laptop back from the woman.

Which adapter did you get? The shorter 1" wide one or the taller thinner one? I am writing this while sitting in my car looking at the cjpp shift **** and silverhorse adapter and couldn't be happier. The adapter fit on with zero problems and the shift **** holds it on fine. I have the V6 and had to go with the adapter with the 1" diameter base. If you purchased the taller thinner (smaller dia) it possible that is why it doesn't fit. The one I have is for the v6/gt and the taller thinner one iirc is for the GT500 only.

I'm worried that you crossthreaded it. How do the threads on the shifter look?

The threads at the top of the shifter are a little chewed up. The stock shifter goes on just fine and I checked the adapter on the stock shifter I had in the garage and it did the same thing. I'm thinking that the adapter had something wrong with it's threads at the top and when I put it on the first time it chewed them up a little. It's not really a big deal since I drilled out the adapter. I'm going to clean up the threads on the shift lever before I install the new ****. Whenever I get it that is.....
