I had to order the conversion module also, but because the vehicle documentation did not list Car 2 u as the provider of the opener, it lists Homelink< the car 2 u people sent me the modules for free, I just paid shipping. Of course it helped that I pointed out that I had bought a 44,000 dollar car that was supposed to have Homelink and WORK, but It neither worked or was a home link.
My opening distance is about 75 feet.

My range varies on my '06 Accord with HomeLink. I'm convinced that weather factors play a part - sunspots or something. It has been particularly bad lately. I found that with my '07 S2000 I got better range if the top was down and I held the hand-held remote above the windshield. I'll just be glad to get rid of the hand-held remote when my Mustang arrives.

Homelink and Car2U are actually two different companies. Homelink is much better than Car2U, it has better range and supports a lot more frequencies.

if I crack open the visor from closed to open just a little bit, I have good range, but when the visor is all the way up, it's like 20 feet.

^ This.
HomeLink takes seconds to program, Car2U takes forever. With Car2U a fixed code actually has to be typed in, like Morse code. Nuts.

So, after following the instructions from LearCar2U (to the letter), and repeating many times for both my home garage and my community gate, I had nothing, nada, zilch. So I called LearCar2U directly (866-572-2728, www.learcar2u.com). They were very friendly and patient. They explained that dozens of doors and gates need 'special' programming in order for it to work. Turns out that both my home garage and my community gate fall into this category. With lots of extra programming, both have finally been programmed. I hope this helps others, too.
