Better Pedals

This might sound stupid to many of you, but I have an new driver that drives the '14 GT. I personally have experienced my foot slipping off of the brake pedal or clutch because they are smooth. Does anybody know of an aftermarket pedal set that are rubber based for my son. I want to be sure he doesn't have issues when it rains and he has wet shoes. I like the look, but safety comes first. We want to keep the car!!!!

I am sure you can find some, but personally I have no problems after it rains. There is rubber inserts on the pedals, my foot has never slipped. You say yours is smooth, i wonder if you have different pedals than me.

I'm not sure who makes it, but there's a product that's made for stairs that's very course, almost like 40 grit sandpaper. It's vinyl and has a very sticky and strong adhesive backing.

I've been using it for the last 5 years or on my stairs that go into the garage and it endures a lot of traffic and has never lifted.

Probably available at Home Depot, Ace, or Lowes.

There's also a rubber based paint that might work. It's used for dipping the handles of tools, scissors, etc. Again, probably available in hardware stores.

Quit twisting your foot. Push straight down.

Maybe I'm just being lazy. I like the rubber pads and feel more secure with them. Maybe the foot slips with the heel to toe driving action!!! ;-)

I don't know what I was doing when this happened to me. The car has only been driven in the rain a couple of times and I know it happened once. Like I said, maybe I was just being lazy with the foot placement, I don't know. I just remember thinking about this then and I just remembered it. Thanks

OP says he has a GT... base or premium?

Maybe he also should consider the OEM premium pedals if he has a base GT?

Jazzman, do you have the base GT? In a quick Google search, the pedals look identical in shape to my premium pedals except for the aluminum. The raised black stripes on my pedals are definitely rubber and I haven't noticed any slipping. But the base GT pedals might not be rubber?

Anyway, the accelerator pedal is pretty expensive from Ford because it's all one piece. The "GT500 pedal covers" from AM look identical to my GT Premium pedals but of course I can't speak to the tackiness of the rubber. Bonus, comes with a dead pedal.

My foot has slipped a couple of times on the OEM pedals when I had wet feet, but very rarely. Check out SRP Racing Pedals at www.srpracing.com for grippier ones. Is grippier a word?

These are SN95 pedals. And trust me, they wear down too.

berzerk I have the Premium. My foot keeps slipping I believe it is because of the shoes I have been wearing. I am going to try some different shoes. LOL The Shelby pedals or that style would seem to be better. They are all aluminum and have coragations as to beable to not slip.

Now I'm confused. I have a '14 GT premium and aluminum pedals with rubber inserts, and have not experienced slipping?

Or he could buy some grip tape (designed for skateboards) and cut to fit however he wants. I've had my foot slip off the brake pedal a couple of times. It's because my heel sits on the floor mat and I just move the tip of my foot from brake to gas pedal. So a lot of times my foot catches the right lower third of the brake pedal and misses the rubber inserts. Usually adjusting my seat position fixes the issue. It lowers my reaction time for braking, but I have to sit completely neutral in the seat (middle) and I tend (for some reason) to sit in the seat a little toward the center console.
