Ambient Lights - On in the daylight?

In my '05 you could have the ambient lights on during the day just by putting the parking lights on (or the fogs or the headlights). In my '12 there doesn't seem to be a way to force the ambient lighting on when it's daytime. Does anyone know how?

Is seems restricted because of the new automatic headlamp system which was not offered in earlier years... You really cannot see it when it's on in broad daylight and has absolutely no effect on interior ambiance unless it is dark. It's just as well if it is dark enough for the exterior lamps to come on then so does the ambient lighting.

Hey NickDC123,

The parking lamps/headlamps must be on to use the ambient lighting. You have to press and hold RESET to turn it on or off. You can find more info in your owner’s manual on page 22. I hope this helps.

Ok, I was totally unclear ... my bad. What I am trying to do is get the instrument cluster (my color) to stay blue even during the day. When I have the light on "auto" / Parking / on the gauges stay white unless it's a) dark or b) i put my hand over the daylight sensor at the bottom middle of the windshield. How do I get them to stay a color during the day? I get that I may have to have the lights on P or On to get this to work, but, as for now, the only way I seem to be able to do this is to cover the daylight sensor ... thoughts?

I’m not sure what the issue is. The sensor is only used for when the vehicle headlamps are set to AUTO. When it’s on P or ON, they should be on and the sensor has not use at that time. Maybe you should stop by your Ford dealer and check on this.

The sensor does turn the gauge cluster to your my color with out the head lights being on, if it's dark enough out, or going through a tunnel, otherwise they are white to help see them better in daylight

Right ... there appears to be no way to "force" MyColor to "on" when it's bright out. It always takes input from the brightness sensor at the base of the windshield. In my '05, just by turning the lights to "on" or "park" MyColor came on. Now it appears that you need to have lights on (or Park) PLUS darkness at that sensor. Does that seem right?

That's exactly how my 2011 works, don't know of a way around this.

I am glad this was posted. I dont drive my '11 much but I thought that the MY COLOR worked during the day but when my dad was in town a few weeks back I took him for a ride and couldnt get the gauges to do color.

Guess I should read the manual.

Kind of a bummer ... I'd like those gauges to stay blue. I wonder if there's a workaround?
