2013 Shaker System Subwoofer Changes (Pics)

Hi Guys,

I just swapped out the door subwoofers in my 2013 Mustang GT Premium with the Shaker System.

I put in the Shelby Kicker Subs and will be running an amp to them. I understand these Kicker subs are 2 ohms.

Ford appears to have changed the subwoofers with the 2013 Shaker system, and this was a surprise to me, I hadn't run across pictures or mentions of the new subs on any of the forums I joined since getting my Mustang.

The subs that came out of my car are similar in appearance to the old ones (same tiny magnet, still dual voice coil)

But they have a new label:

2/2 Ohms 35W/35W Made in China ... DR3T - 18808 BD35B8 GEWAA

....

Just wanted to share this info that I hadn't read anywhere else in case it might be useful to someone.

It's painfully obvious that the factory amp in the 2013 GT Shaker System is really under powered for the Shelby Kicker Sub upgrades.

Thus I will be amping them and my audio upgrade will be complete.

Focal Integration in the front doors
Focal Polyglass in the rear deck (of a 2006 vintage)
Kicker Shelby 8" Door Subs
Memphis Audio 12" in a sealed box in the spare tire well
Audison Bit 10 for EQ

For Power:
Arc Audio XDI 600.1
Arc Audio XDI 800.5

It's phenomenal and sounds so much better than the factory system!

What was cost for all of this? A break down would be much appreciated.

All Told, I'll be around $2,000 into it when all is said and done. That includes all labor, custom box in spare tire well, installation, tax, etc....

Here are the MSRP on the various pieces:

Focal Integration Series 5x7 (front doors) $249
Focal Polyglass 130 CV 5.25" (Rear Deck) ??? (have had in my garage since I acquired them in 2006, aren't made anymore and don't remember what they cost)

Arc Audio XDi 805 and XDi 600 MSRP for about $330 each

Audison Bit Ten MSRP is around $380

Memphis Shallow Mount 12" Subs MSRP are around $250

Kicker Shelby 8" Door Subs for a pair MSRP around $149

You should absolutely switch those Focals around. Put the Polyglass in front and the Integrations in the rear deck. The Integration line is honestly crap. The rest of your gear is great (although I'd go with something else other than the Kickers). You'd be a lot happier if you spent a little more and did some better comps in the front and don't run rear speakers. And if you must run rears, run them off the head unit and send more power to your front comps/midbass woofers.
