2013 GT Sync Install

Hello everybody,
Does anyone know if you can add a sync module to a factory 2013 GT system? I'd like to eventually get the Raxiom kit but it's pointless unless I have a Sync system.

Yes. I think you should be able to add SYNC to your Mustang. I'm not sure what all goes into that process, though. Right now the Raxiom Navigation only works with SYNC Equipped Mustangs.

However, I know Raxiom is working hard to come out with a version for non-sync Mustangs! Stay tuned.. That should be an option really soon.

First things first read through this thread in your free time but I will highlight the important parts. You will need male and female pins a 2009 sync kit a auto dimming mirror with mic and a 2012 sync module take off (Have some if you need them) you also will need a premium radio head (You can find all this on ebay) you will need to do some wiring. Disclaimer (You might get a 911 assist error like I have if this occurs you most like need to get your airbag module reprogrammed to a premium model to fix this or a model with sync.

If you decide to do this and you need the parts I should have all the parts you need minus the radio bezel. Just PM me here if you are interested and want to take on this mod.

I am excited to hear about your Sync installation.

I have done similar with a 2013 base Mustang. I put a 2013 Sync module from another car with the 2009 Sync Kit.

Bluetooth, USB and most Sync functions work fine but I cannot get the microphone that came with the Sync kit to work. I can push the HMI that came with the sync kit and it verbally responds but does not seem to hear anything from the microphone.

Just wondering if you had any troubles using the 2009 Sync Kit microphone or if I need to get a 2013 Sync Microphone mirror or something else for it to work?

I also upgraded to a 2013 Shaker head unit which gave me possible satellite radio (if I can get an antenna for it) but not much else really changed with this head unit.

I also have the 911 Assist Error that wants me to take to the dealer. Did you ever come up with a solution for that? My car has had the driver side air bag recalled just last week and will have to go in for this but I wonder if I can get them to program it to my Sync donor car VIN#.

Let me know what you ended up doing with your car?

The wiring that comes with 09 kit needs to be repinned for the mic for 13s. I don't remember which ones it was, but in my post there are wiring diagrams for the 13s and talks about it in that post.

If you are using the mirror with the mic in it. Make sure you have the harness going to the mirror, and it has to have power to the mirror as well.

I previously reported a problem with the 2009 Sync add on kit in my 2013 Mustang. The microphone was not working but I just discovered how that the red wire on the 2009 Sync add on kit is necessary to get 12v power for the add on kit microphone to work on my 2013 Mustang. With 12v power on the red wire, the 2009 Sync kit microphone works fine.

With the add on kit and 2013 Sync module from another car, I now have full voice controls and Wired Handset Button control over the Sync system.

I have the mirror microphone on order but I am not sure how to wire it up so at least this will work for now.

My next projects include:

Adding the Microphone Mirror
Pinning for the Sync steering wheel controls
Finding out how to eliminate the Assist 911 Error

Ayowchosky123 said this could be fixed by airbag re-programming but I heard from Ford Sync hotline that this could be caused by the Assist 911 system getting deleted during update and a shop in Arizona that specializes in Sync programming said that it was due to a missing GPS module. They said that they GPS module is used to identify where the car is during an accident and the error will be present until a GPS module is connected. Was Ayowchoski123 or anyone able actually to fix the Assist 911 Error? I appreciate any guidance on this so I do not have to buy any more parts or pay for labor at the dealer than I dont actually need to fix this issue.

Adding a Satellite antenna to the Shaker radio for satellite

Can anyone confirm the 2013 P/N for the mirror harness

Awoychoski123, can you advise how to find a dealer that will reprogram the Restraint Control Module to a premium. My dealer claims they can't do this.
