Anyone know if its possible to swap out the right side base model volume control buttons to the sync buttons?

I am working on a new headunit project and want to see if i could use the sync buttons and program it to an iDataMaestro ADS-MSW steering wheel control adapter.

I know with iDataMaestro i can program long press for certain buttons for new features but was hoping maybe for phone and voice commands i could just program the sync buttons even tho my car is a base.

i figure its wired for it but I'd probably have to program it with a VCMII which i'd rather avoid only because I dont know how to really use it.
