2012 gt switch power seats to manual
I have a 2012 mustang gt. I have power seats for both my front seats. I already replaced the driver side power seat rail and now the passenger side has stopped working. I don't want to buy a power rail just for it to fails again. Has anyone converted their seat? I have heated seats and I wanted to keep this feature. Any help would be appreciated.
Not that I've done this... but I wouldn't be skeert of it after lookin' at it. It's just stuff to figure out, looks like...
In looking at the manual, both physical and wiring diagrams, it looks to be that neither the heat or driver's lumbar uses the power seat switch or rails to work in any way, they just have a common harness. It looks to me that the passenger doesn't have power lumbar, just heat if equipped. You can safely swap the rails and the valences as needed to make a power seat into a manual one. For the driver's side, you'll have to figure out what to do with the lumbar switch. You'll also have to figure out how to secure the entire wire harness under the seat so it won't interfere with the manual rails. And finally, whatever you don't connect (switch, power seat rails), those connectors need to be secured like the harness to not interfere with things manual. But you should be able to just unplug the power seat rails and bolt in the manual ones otherwise and happy motoring.

That all said... seems odd that your 6 year younger GT than mine has had both seat rails go out... Mine quit working (I only have driver's, no heat) and it was the switch had gone bad. But knowing things like this happen, I acquired a power seat rail for my car years ago on ebay. Snagged it at a really great price. It awaits... and yet, 13 years later, I ain't needed it yet...
...now I've jinxed it...
...I wonder if they changed something between those years...
Just makin' sure, is all. I'm sure you know what's going on better than I, just thinkin' out loud via silent text on a screen...
Hope that helps!
