FYI. there are a few Scosche kits showing up on ebay right now. New in the box from audio electronics houses. Just bought one a couple of days ago. hopefully will be able to install this weekend.

Exactly!!! This has been said so many different times and yet the comment to move the radio higher keeps coming up. I suggest whom ever does the next install PLEASE post a pic of the upper area to show why they CAN"T have the radio higher.

here is a thread where OP posted pics of the radio area:

as you can see, the support brackets don't let you put a radio that high up unless you totally hack up the interior support structure.

Thanks for the info! Sorry I brought up something that has been posted many times, but I just do not have as much free time as you to sit around all day browsing these forums.

No big deal. I was just looking for someone to post a pic because seems every post this question comes up about why they don't put it higher. the pic hopefully clears that up now........ until the next thread starts

Another issue that might come into play are the mounting brackets for the head unit, I am guess with the amount of work need to make it work you won't see a kit come out. Quite possible to have a custom job done though.

Might have to take mine out again this weekend to try and get the steering wheel controls working so I will check to see if it is that simple. Looks like the pic may be from the thread where I installed mine.

I just ordered a Scosche dash kit from ebay, what Ford aftermarket kit did you get to retain all the sync features? Which Kenwood model did you install? How about a few more pictures?

My mustang is a base mustang gt. I do not have sync nor navigation. What will I need besides the console faceplate. Does the scosche kit come with the harness to connect the aftermarket stereo to the mustang? Will I need any other harness? I have installed the 18R leather steering wheel, but have not yet been to the dealer to get my steering wheel controls working. Will I be able to buy the following Metra Axxess ASWC to get steering wheel controls?

Edit: just read some reviews for this kit on Crutchfield and people are reporting that when you use Sync it shuts off the head unit until Sync is off. Kinda defeats the purpose of it if you're getting an aftermarket Nav head unit.

What happen to DeeJay 5.0? I just received my dash kit and also wanted to know if he used the PAC MS-FRD1 to retain all the sync features! This kit claims to retain your Sirius radio too! Is this the only cable adapter needed?

You know you can just call PAC or Scosche with tech questions.
there are sync kits from Metra and PAC, but you will likely want the scosche FDSR kit ($130 retail) http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/product/1686

So this and the PAC kit will both be needed? It's times like this I wish I still worked at Best Buy....I used to get such a great discount on car audio gear. There's such a huge mark up on stuff like this.
