Window Tints

So I just took delivery today on my '12 V6 black on black with the Pony Package and Electronics Package. It is AWESOME!

I am getting the tints done next weekend and have a few questions. I know that the legal limit is 35, at least in KS, but am not terribly worried about surpassing that within reason.

1. Should I do 35 all around or go darker?
2. What should I look for after it is done to make sure there are no issues?
3. Are there any brands or qualities of tints I should avoid?

Thanks for the help.

Not sure of all the laws in Kansas, but in Texas it's 25%. I had my '95 tinted @ 20. My mechanic inspects my car. The same guy that added my smog delete & removed my catalytics. He said he could not inspect it if the tint's not legal. I sold it to Okla, so didn't need inspection.

If I was you, I'd check with my car inspector, if you have that. My '11 tests @ maybe 29? Sure I'd like darker, this works fine.

Not sure if brands, either.

Think about it before you go darker than legal... I got pulled over for tint, and it was an $85 ticket... apparently in my state (VA) if you get a second ticket, the court can force you to remove your tint
Plus cops use it as an excuse to pull you- when i got pulled, it was New Years Eve- I was driving perfectly (I hardly drink at all- just not my thing) but they still pulled me out of my car, made me do all the sobriety tests on the side of the road (in front of my kids!) it was horrible and humiliating. Then they sent me on my way with my $85 tint ticket. They said if I paid to remove the tint the ticket would be waived. I opted to keep my tint and pay the ticket, but if they get me a second time, not sure what will happen.

Oh, and 3M and Huper Optik are both really good products. Spring for the good stuff- it makes a difference.

Thank you everyone for all the advice. It is really helpful.

RVAStang, I definitely need to think about that because I am young and I have heard that here as well that cops like to pull you over for tints so they can check everything else, not that I have anything to hide, but just would be quite annoying.

At the risk of sounding dumb, what is the front window strip?

If you look at your front windshield near the corner, you will see the AS1 line. you can put tint from the top of the windshield down to the AS1 line.

It ends up being a strip.

I personally think a really dark strip looks ricey, so I didn't get mine tinted.

Do not get the strip on your windshield if your gunna do anything to it get it like a 50% tint but your car is gunna look darker than the tints are because of your dark interior 20 all the way around would look nice

I've got nothing to add when it comes to tint, other than don't go so dark you can't see out of it at night. Rear visibility is already not that great

Just wanted to also say congrats and that it's good to see another KC guy on here - doesn't seem to be many that I've seen so far. Are you going to join the Mustang Club of Greater KC?

This is exactly what I did but I have 40% on all except the windshield is at 50%. I like the fact that it's a very uniformed look. The windshield is so subtle , I always have to point it out. The biggest difference about it is that it takes away that blue hue that stands out when all the windows are tinted except for the windshield.

I've only had my Mustang for six weeks so I haven't really gotten too into it yet either, but it seems like a pretty active club with a wide variety of cars. They meet monthly and have cruise events pretty often throughout the warm months too.

I just did 35% all around, the legal in Indiana.I really wanted 20% smoke but i have enough trouble with the law as it is with my medical condition...right foot is bigger and heavier than the left
I think it looks great, mine is impact blue.I had an earlier stang and did the real dark stuff but it was like riding around in a cave, plus no one could see how cool i was riding around in my awesome car!
