Two NEW releases for 2010+ Mustangs Exterior

We had set up to offer the lock that Ford manufactures for the capless system, but they pulled the PO at the last minute claiming the part was "proprietary" to their dealer network.
So...
Our door works with the factory "plug" lock, which is available at any Ford dealer in the country, PN is 8U5Z-9C268-B. Price should be ~20.00, and it goes inside, so you don't have to look at a lock on the outside of your car all day

I'd rather have a door that locked, than a funky little plug that I don't need. It's a capless fuel system so why put a cap on it. Just lock the door.

That said, with the newer Fords it's pretty hard to siphon an appreciable amount of gas out with the shape of the fliller tube.
Now, somebody putting something in is a different story...

Must be a regional thing because I'm not worried in the slightest about anyone stealing gas from my car. Stealing the car is what I'm worried about, and there's not much you can do to prevent that lol

That was my concern. I have no intention of having things ruined by a punk kid. I got the Ford plug lock but not from the dealer, so I don't know why they gave the answer they did on not letting it go through a reseller.
I can't believe it doesn't have an interior release. If it did I'd have the best of both worlds with the capless intake. The plug lock does work. Some day I'm going to install an interior release for the door.

I've seen both setups from Ford, the Escort (IIRC) had a cable release on the floor and the Topaz had an electric solenoid to pop the door and a button on the dash.

Unless the common trouble-maker understands how the capless system works, they aren't getting anything in it. Heck, even a normal gas can won't actuate the capless mechanism, that's why they include the specific diameter funnel in the trunk for emergency refilling. Trust me, I've tried...
On the internal latching mechanism - that would solve my personal issue with the lock, which is I don't like the look of a lock right there on the door that we work hard to make look so "clean". The problem though is the cost involved to add that into the design of the door would probably add another 20.00 or so overall, and take it from being a 15 minute install to a 2 hour install. I hate to say it, but most people won't be interested in the door at that point, and the only way to get the cost there would be to do it across the board.
I know there are cheap tumbler locks that can be added to the exterior, but there's dis-similar metals (electrolysis) to worry about, simple corrosion of the lock when exposed to the elements, etc..
That said, a little light bulb just went off in my head, can't say anything else, need to talk to some people about what would be involved...
