Tires that don't flatspot

I will soon be replacing my tires on my 2010 Mustang Gt. I'm looking for tires that don't suffer from flat spotting. I currently have the 18" factory Pirelli tires, and I sort of fixed the flat spotting on them, but I still get a little shimmy on them from time to time. This car is my dd so comfort is more important than performance. I was wondering if Michellin or bf goodrich make tires for the mustang that don't flat spot.

Thanks for all replys.

I first noticed to problem in fall of 2010. When I moved to a new town my commute was almost all highway, and I only live about 2 miles from the highway. When I went to the dealer they said the factory tires sometimes suffer from flatspotting even after just sitting overnight. They gave the tires a road force balance and it fixed the problem but lately in the morning if I get up to about 75 mph the steering wheel will shake a tad, not much but if I'm thinking about it I will notice it. I was wondering if I would better off with grand touring tires? Since its a dd I'm more concerned about comfort over performance. Or maybe there's a tire that combines the two. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Find a different dealer. And have them look into the issue. Sitting overnight shouldn't cause any issues...

I have seen Pirellis on an f150 flat spot overnight but usually work themselves out in a matter of minutes at highway speed. You couldn't feel it around town.

A tire with a softer compound will flat spot quicker then one with a harder compound (ie lower treadwear rating vs. higher)

My guess would be that the "eco" tires, with low rolling resistance, wouldn't flat spot as much, as they have a very stiff carcass to lower rolling resistance. Of course, those aren't generally considered performance tires...

TireRack has a way to sort with Low Rolling Resistance tires.

My first question is do you know for a fact that your tires were flat spotting, or could there be another cause for your vibrations? Probably fully 10% of tires we get balanced for cars on the lot at work go back to be balanced again because they weren't quite perfect the first time.

I've never seen a tire get flat spots over night on a car that weighs as much as a mustang. Not saying it doesn't happen, I've just never seen it.

Heck we have a 2011 GT at work with the factory 18in pirellis and it'll sit for a couple weeks at a time without being driven sometimes and I've never noticed any flat spotting, or heard customers mention feeling anything funny in regards to the tires.

I have the factory 18's also. I have left my car in the garage for nearly 3 weeks when the weather was REALLY bad. I never had a problem with flat spotting. I also have Hankook Venus V12's as my summer tire. Iv left my car sitting in the garage for 4 days and didnt have any flat spotting on them either. I think either your car has a problem or your tires were bad.

I've read on these forums of other people with the pirellis having the same problem. When I gave it the road force balance it went away, but now about a year and half later it back but no where near as bad. Only sometimes I will notice it and I've read that with the Pirellis it's hit or miss as far as the flat spotting goes.

Links to others with problems? It took a year and half to come back?...So what's this about overnight flat-spotting? I'd check your alignment and wear patterns on the tires. It's not the tires...
