For those with the clear bra...

How easy is it to wash/wax? My concern with it is that the edge will grab the wax and will be easily seen against a dark paint color. Not interested in having a thin white line running across the hood and quarter panels. I'll hang up and listen.

Mods, if this thread needs to be moved elsewhere, do iiiiiit.

Just don't lather the wax on at the edge and promptly wipe it off.

I get a lot of bugs along a big lake so when I wash I first spray tar and bug remover, let it set for a few minutes, and wash it off. Then I proceed with a full car wash. It wipes dry and spotless with a micro or chamois just like the rest of the finish.

A Q-tip run along the edge of the bra removes all of the residue.

It depends on how good the installation is. I've had it done twice - the first one was done by window tinting hacks and it looked terrible with visible seams and overlaps so I had it removed and redone by a specialist. You have to exercise some caution when waxing to avoid build-up along the edge but it's easy to clean up.

I had my bumper, hood, fenders, headlights, and mirrors done for 595 through ultrashield.

Overlap the film edge by about 1/8" with a painter's tape and wax the paint till your heart content. Remove tape and wipe the dried/hazed wax at the tape edge.

I'm sure this will work, yet I haven't found that to be necessary (too much labor for this body). As my installer told me, always spray, wipe, wash, apply wax, wipe off in the direction from the Clear Bra, towards the paint finish. Otherwise (over time), a build-up will occur along the interface edge where residue and wax gets forced into the seam.

For me, this has been the easiest - and has worked great so far.

Sorry to be slightly off topic. But if anyone is interested in having clear bra installed consider the weather conditions. From my own experience i went to an installer that had good recommendations.

My installation was done during this summer. It was extremely hot specially inside the garage in their work place. You preferably do not want air flow inside the compartment where the installation is taking place because you don't want to risk contaminating the surface of the car before they apply the clear bra. Long story short, there was a couple of strands of hair that can be seen trapped inside the clear bra. And i have no doubt they came from the installers. They had a fan that was blowing into the room to help them cool off. And i cant blame them because it was really hot. But this still sucks and I am not pleased. There are still some air bubbles that have not disappeared. It has been almost a month since installation.

Regardless of the bubbles, a complete re-installation is needed because of the visible strands of hair. I plan to come back during the winter to have it re-done.
