removing emblems

i wanna remove my 5.0 badges and paint them flat black and put them back on. I have a feeling the stuff that keeps them attached to the car wont be as tacky when i go to put it back on.

and recommendations on what i should use to re-secure them to the car?

Use fishing line to pull them off, slide the fishing line back in forth in a sawing motion to loosen the tape, then remove the sticky residue( can just be balled up and removed likely) it won't be able to be reused. Buy some double stick tape and reapply to your emblem before reinstalling. Keep in mind there are two tabs on the back of the emblem to locate it on the fender.

So how did you do it?

I want my 5.0 badges flat black too, but I'm thinking of plasti-dipping them ... that way I won't even have to remove them, I can just cut around them and remove the overspray

There's a YouTube video of a guy who painted his emblems with plasti dip while on
The car. It can be done.

ended up using fishing line. to remove them from the adhesive. Painted them and reattached with double sided tape.
