Starkey Fog Light Kit Installed!
Starkey Fog Light Kit Installed!
Just finished installing the Starkey Products Fog Light Kit for the '10-'12 Mustang V6.
The kit is nicely done and uses the same factory swtich, bezels, and lights. The wiring harness is well done and easy to route and install. Actual time installing the kit was about a hour. Total time as a bit more because I did not have ramps that would work so, I ended up jacking the car and put blocks under the tires to get clearance to remove the splash guard (9 7mm bolts). There are a couple of black blocks on the end of the harness, these are the relays. I easily concealed them near the back of the headlights so they are out of sight. Everything else looks totally OEM
If you have butter fingers like me, you may want to hit a Radio Shack for a couple extra T Taps for wiring the switch. You only need two but the first one I tried to install "jumped" into the dash and has never been seen from again. Lucky for me Radio Shack is 1 mile away.
The whole set up works like a champ and the fogs only come on when the ignition is in accessories or, on. The swtich has some nice features, auto headlights turns the light on when it gets dark outside and shuts the headlights off after about 20 seconds of shutting the car off. The fogs can be used at Daytime Running Lights when the swtich is in auto and can be shut by simply pushing the selector in. Jason at Starkey Products was very helpful and is a customer service oriented guy! I am color blind, so his help with the microscopic wires in the swtich was invaluable and he even gave me his personal cell to call since I did the install over the weekend during their off hours
I love this upgrade and the added lights at night are really helpful. So far no fog to see the full effect but that will just have to wait for the Fall. I highly recommend this kit
