No. G2 specifically recommends AGAINST using a clear as it can peel and yellow on top of the epoxy paint.

 

Ok, cool... I'm tempted to do this soon, I'd hate to paint the brand new Brembo calipers, but that red looks too good!

Mine are getting done this weekend. Ive had the G2 sitting for 2 weeks. I bought Red for Calipers and black for my rotor hats......

Question, does anyone think the G2 stuff will be too much of a glossy black for rotor hats and give a cheap look behind my lat black wheels??

Personally, I like a satin black on the rotor hats. I own a powdercoat shop and I specialize in calipers, having done over 1800 sets in the last 6 years. When my customers ask about coating the rotor hats, I recommend duplicolor 1200 degree ceramic spray paint. It holds up great to anything less than track days, looks good and is inexpensive. You can paint the entire rotor, inside and out and let the brake pads scrape the paint off. (Can't do that with powdercoat as its too thick)

However, from experience and color wise, I would say, polished or chrome wheels, go satin black on rotors, black wheels, go silver. Otherwise they blend together and get lost.

 

I think the only time you should do red is if you have brembos or any after market brakes..

 

How are the vinyls holding up? Have you taken it to the track or anything where the brakes get really hot?

 

I went for the subtle but contrast look. Used brake clean and a wire brush. Painted the hats only with Duplicolor black, applied vinyl and cleared with high temp engine paint. I have done it this way on the last two cars and it seemed to hold up well.

 

I think the stock calipers look so much better painted black! I always tell people to do that when they ask for mod suggestions.
