Is putting a 5.0 badge on a v6 wrong?
Okay well i go to school every day in the mornings and since day one I've seen someone with his stock v6, in half the semester I've seen him mod his car. By the looks of it he has a lowered stang with charcoal AMR wheels, and idk what other mods he has put. Now today I saw his car in the morning and saw that he has changed his 3.7 to a 5.0 emblem. Now is it wrong to pose as something that it's not?
The better question would be is it stupid.
Anyone who knows Mustangs well will know right away that it isn't a 5.0, there are visual clues unless there have been more changes than just the badges. And as soon as the car is started you will hear that it isn't a 5.0.
In the end, who cares?
Wrong? It's not illegal so it's only wrong or not in the conscience of the car owner. It's his car, he can do what he wants.

Why the hell did you ask if it was wrong if you already think it is? What a waste of a thread. Who cares what he does to his car, apparently you find yourself more involved in his life than your own. Let him do what he wants with his car. Now go back to class and forget about it.
I think it's wrong. Think of how his engine feels, knowing that your owner is ashamed of you and is pretending he's got something else under the hood. It's like finding out your boyfriend is carrying around a picture in his wallet of some woman he doesn't even know, and telling people that is his girlfriend. If I were that V6, I'd feel very insulted. What an S.O.B..
Placing hoods, spoilers, stripes, or wheels used on another model would not be classified as a "poser" in my opinion, but badging a car with "5.0" when it is not is just looking for trouble.
It's one thing to wear the clothes of someone, but when you take their name as yours, then you become a poser.

I think its okay to go for the "look" of a better equipped model- but when you badge it as such, that's just silly (IMHO).
I have a '65 coupe with a straight 6, and have added almost all of the options that came on the GT for that year (disc brakes, fog lamps, 5 gauge cluster, 5spd trans, V8 suspension & steering, etc.- the only "6 cyl" part left on the car is the engine at this moment). When it came time to add the rocker stripes, I deliberately avoided the "GT350" lettering- since the car is not (and never will be) a GT. I just added straight lines without letters. Still gives the look of the GT, but it doesn't pretend to be anything its not.
I think the "SXT 6" badge is a perfect solution- it gives the look the owner obviously wants without false advertising.
I usually debadge everything anyway. In fact, I'm disappointed I will not be able to remove the "5.0" badge on my '14 when it arrives without exposing the locating holes for the badge (otherwise, it would be coming off). Better to leave em guessing and have more under the hood than they thought than to falsely advertise and get exposed as a poser.

Let him do as he pleases. When a real 5.0 pulls up next to him and he gets smoked he'll learn not to advertise the car as something it's not. Or if someone asks him to pop the hood as previously stated he will look like an idiot. He's just going to embarrass himself sooner or later ...
This reminds me of a movie called they call me Bruce. This Asian guy pretends to know Kung Fu and no one fights him because he "looks" like he should know martial arts. Sooner later someone will want to test you and no one wants a black eye.
