Plasti-Dipped my Grill and surround

I know this plasti-dip stuff can get out of hand so I decided to start off small. My retro style billet grill from American Muscle started to get a white film on it and fade abnormally. My first thought was to have it sand-blasted and then powdercoated. That may still happen. But in the mean time I decided to spend $6 bucks and see what happened if I plasti-dipped the whole assembly so it all blended and flows together. If it doesn't hold, no big deal. I'll just go my original route and blast and powdercoat.

Over all I think it turned out pretty good. I will take some more pics tomorrow when it's reinstalled and do a comparison of before and after. I plan on doing the lower Roush grill the same way as it has some rock chips that I need to cover up.

It looks real uniform and I like the smooth flat color. How long do you have to let that stuff dry before you can handle it to install?

Re-coat time is 30 minutes. Handling is 4 hours. 24 hour cure.

On the car pics would be great. Thinking of doing the same with my Roush grille...it's looking a little beat up.

Nice job! Can't wait to see pics on your car. Think they'll go very well with your setup!

Please excuse how dirty the car is. It's been raining the past 2 days here and the roads are still wet so no use in washing. Plus I go back to work tonight. The lower grill has not been done. After inspecting it I think I will get it sandblasted and then coated before using the plasti-dip on the lower grill as the rock chips are a little worse on it.

The plasti-dip has a texture to it. It feels very rough to the touch. It blends very well when you do the grill surround and grill so there is no contrast between the 2. You can see a small amount of dirt on the grill from driving around this morning in the rain. Should be no big deal once I wash the car. I will update next week after a good detail.

That splitter is scraped up like a motherbleeper.

Its bad....... and I should feel bad. Good thing I have a spare! Got it when I got the lower grill as a package deal. I'll get around to installing it eventually.
