newbie wheel + tire question

Hi everyone, First post for me here. I'm 99% certain I am going to trade in my evo x for a mustang gt premium but I had a few questions about winter wheel / tire combos. I have a set of the following for my evo right now: 18x9 Drag DR-31 Matte Gunmetal 5x4.5 +28mm offset w/ 12x1.5 drag black forged lugs. the tires are 245/40/18 dunlop wintersport 3D. ( http://www.elementwheels.com/proddet...?prod=dr3118gm )

1. If I buy a mustang with 18 inch wheels, will these fit and work with no issues? I do not plan the brembo package or anything like that.

2. If the wheels will work, will I need hub rings?

3. If I buy a mustang with 19 inch wheels, would running these during winter totally mess up the speedometer while they are on?

I'll probably get the mustang either way, would just be nice to save ~2000

thanks!

See this thread where that wheel in 18x8 size is being used as a full-size spare for Brembo-equipped cars (they don't include a spare tire):

So the wheels would most likely work.

But stock tire size for a GT with 18s is 235/50/18. That's a pretty big difference in overall diameter from yours, speedo will be ~4mph off at 60:

thanks for the link to the discount tire page, that was exactly what I was looking for. I'll most likely sell them and get new wheels / tires for the mustang then.

sorry to bump, trying to figure out this before I make the purchase on saturday. if I don't need to buy new wheels I can throw an extra $800 down on the car

I picked out a mustang with the California special package (245/45/19) on the 19x8.5 wheels.

The drag dr-31 wheels I have are 18x9 +28 offset. If I just replace the tires on these winter wheels to ones that are 235/50/18, it should only be around a 1-2 mph difference during winter according to discount tire site (70mph on the oem = 68.91 mph on the 18x9's with 235/50/18). I can accept this.

will this work and fit the car and not rub or anything crazy? It won't have the brembo package. I assume so, but I'm fkn stupid when it comes to wheel / tire setups so I wanted to verify with one of the knowledgeable people on this forum.

thanks again.

As far as the wheel offset you should be ok, AmericanMuscle sells their 18x9's with a +25 and 18x10's with a +35. When considering diameter, etc., try using this calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
