MMD Decklid Panel for the 13-14

I ordered this decklid panel yesterday, http://www.americanmuscle.com/mmd-de...anel-1314.html, and it is being delivered today. It just came out. Funny because it has always bothered me that the stock decklid didn't match the license plate surround. A silent wish has been answered. Looking forward to them being uniform now. Will post a pic after the install.

I've got that sitting in my basement waiting for my car to arrive. Didn't like the wall of black at the back of the car and this breaks it up nicely. Nice choice.

Good to see you've found exactly what you wanted! I prefer some type of black decklid on the S197 Mustangs as well. The body color usually looks too bland and the black breaks it up a bit.

I'm excited to see a few pics of your ride too!

Looks awesome, how was it getting the faux gas cap off the old one? From reading the instructions, looks like the toughest part of the process.

I wouldn't say any part was really tough. It takes a little time to work the retention clips up and off their posts on the back. Then I used two small flathead screwdrivers on the front. I wedged one under to pop it up, and then used the other to slowly work around the cap until I could just pull it off.

Just to speak about the rest of the install; I used a plastic putty knife to pry the stock decklid away from the deck and then used it to pop out the 12 clips holding it on. This was my first experience with 3M automotive tape. When that stuff touches a surface, it really sticks, which I guess is a good thing, so do your best to get it lined up properly on the first try because it is tough to move if you don't.

Yeah, Jersey is tough! Not sure if that would be ok or not.

Looks exactly like the FOrd OEM panel on 2010-2012 Mustangs.

Looks great! The more I see mine, the more I think the stock panel looks out of place. Very happy with the change.

Just to be different, but I think my 13 would look better if the deck lid was the same color as the body. I think it would make the tail lights stand out.

I agree. I think either option is better than the stock decklid.

One big functional advantage with this panel that I've discovered, no fingerprints on the paint when closing the trunk, and the ribs create a nice grab handle for closing.

Still very happy with my purchase.

I should have my MMD in a day or so. Looks great and I agree about the fingerprint issue as well as how easy it to scratch shiny black plastic.

Its very true. For an area that's handled that much textured plastic is just a smarter idea. And the bottom rib actually forms a small handle. Really loving this thing.

Lakeguy, this past Saturday I was going to install the MMD but chickened outnot really understanding how much pressure you have to put on the clips to popit off. According the instructions I need to use a plastic putty knife to getunder it to pry it. Any insight on the install? Thanks.
