LOOKING FOR ADVICE ON HEADLIGHT BULBS...
My 2012 GT has about the dimmest headlights of any car I've ever owned. I've been researching some possible replacement bulbs. I've heard good things about the Sylvania Silverstar and Silverstar Ultra bulbs, although they say they have a short lifespan.
Has anyone used these? And if so, what kind of lifespan have you had with them? Are they a lot brighter than the stock bulbs? Are you using something else you would recommend over these?
Thanks.

They are very bright really didn't notice shortened life span bout I would guess probably 2-3 year out of them and for a bulb that's not bad... they do make a difference the Ultras that is I loved them in my Subaru and considered them in my Stang but haven't had a need for them since don't drive much at night anymore.
I've been trying to decide on bulbs as well, the low beams on my 2011 seem pretty dim as well. I have been looking at those as well, seem to remember some old sets of sealed beam Silverstars not lasting real long, never tried the individual bulbs.

I'm always surprised when people think the standard headlights on the '10-'12 cars are too dim, I never thought they were on my '12 V6.
Now, the HID's on my '14 GT are better but if they weren't standard equipment I sure wouldn't have ordered them.
I guess maybe it's because when I first started driving they didn't even have halogen headlights on cars, just regular old incandescents, now those were dim lights!

Consumer reports tested the brighter aftermarket headlight bulbs and says that although they may be brighter and whiter, that they really don't increase the sight range. Says the design of the reflector in the headlight housing is what determines how far the light beam is projected, not the brightness of the bulb.

agree with ltngdrvr.
I put the silverstars on my mustang and noticed absolutely no difference other than brighter bulbs. I could not see any farther.
I then decided to convert my foglights to HIDs and pointed them slightly more downward. that made a huge difference.
I don't recommend dropping HIDs in your halogen housings, though. I can also tell you that upgrading your halogens to HIDs (I converted to factory HIDs) does help, but without the HID fogs, I would be flying blind.
