How Should I paint stripes my 2013 GT Convertible Premium and re-badging
I am looking for suggestions for striping my 2013 Black Convertible GT Premium.
I am looking to do something similar to the image below. 2 Wide stripes with ~ 2" gap with the black stock color and a 1/2" gap on the outsides with stock black a 1/2" ignot silver stripe. The large stripes will be Candy Red. These will all be painted stripes. No vinyl. I am using 2013/12 mustang paint colors.
My original plan was to go from lowest point on front bumper over the hood, the small metal area above the windshield, over the deck lid, over the spoiler down to the lowest point on rear bumper. This would be the top stripes.
Additionally I want to do something with the lower side stripes. At the bottom above rocker across doors. It would extend all the way to the rear of the vehicle. It would be a 4-6" wide stripe (whatever would be the standard for Mustange) and the wide stripe would be candy red. With a small gap of stock black and then a 1/2" stripe of ignot silver to outline it.
My dilema is how to do the side stripes and if I should do something like go from the hood over the fender and lead all the down to rockers boss style. I am not trying to rebadge to appear to be a boss. I am considering putting 302 or GT within the stripes as they go down the fender where you would see boss on the bosses.
Additionally for the lower side stripe I see MUSTANG in bold text is pretty common on the door. I don't mind doing that and I may. I am looking for someting more unique and not the same ole same ole. I was considering having mustang in cursive script painted there in its place of just regular text. Mustang usually takes up the length of the door in most that I see. I don't think I could make it that long with it in cursive mustang script. Any letter or script I do decide on will be within the large red stripe (4-6") but I will use the ignot silver for the letters or the script.
I am open to suggestions or pictures for unique ideas even if photoshopped. Maybe I am over thinking this. Sometimes sticking to the plain old stripe orginal is best. I am just trying to think of something unique that will look awesome and classy.
I really wanted the Candy Red mustang with the Red Brick Cashmere. Ford won't allow that color combination. So I really want this as my stripe color to accent the interior. I really like the idea of adding silver as well.
Additionally I have ordered a paintable tonneau cover. It will be painted to match the black of the car and the striping of the car to be in alignment of the stripes when installed. It will look like the stripes go right over the tonneau cover and into the interior of the car.
Some FYI for some rebadging I am doing:
1. removing the 5.0 fender badges; I am going to replace it with the High performance 302 badge centered above a chrome MUSTANG script logo (6-8" I believe)
or
A tri-bar pony emblem with the same chrome MUSTANG script logo all on the same level not stacked on top of one another. Or do you suggest stacking these as well.
2. I have ordered both the high output 302 and the tri-bar pony badges. If I go with the tri-bar and mustang script in place of the 5.0 I still want to use them. Any thoughts on placing these near the front of the fender in front of wheel near head lamps but on fender? Up towards the crease in the fender.
3. I have ordered the chrome FORD letters (with pin mounts) to badge the front hood with.
4. I have ordered the chrome MUSTANG letters to go spaced evenly across entire trunk deck lid
I am trying to go for an early 70's retro look/feel. A long post I know. I would just like to get some final ideas and input before making my final decision on how to get it done. I picked her up last week and will be taking to the shop next week.
Obviously the car in the image below is not mine. It is a picture I found online that has the main striping style I would like to clone.
