i had looked into getting the pedestal spoiler but shyed away after learning i would have to drill additional holes in my deck lid (I have factory spoiler now). Just to be clear, are you guys saying the gt500 fits using existing holes and requires no additional drilling?

I had the 3D rear spoiler but I'm way to OCD and the way the Gurney flap was painted was not good enough for me so I sold it for $200.00 and found a OEM spoiler on eBay for $227.00 and its at the body shop now to be painted.

I'd wait until summer to instal it unless you have a heated garage. The only hassle of OEM spoiler is its rigidity and double sided tape. Even in 90+ degree weather, the spoiler wanted to pop back up instead of conforming to the decklid. Yes, you can instal it because you will be bolting it down... However, I'd be concerned with how the double sided tape cures. The 3M tape cures at 80 degrees and up.

Two scenarios may happen. 1. The tape makes contact and cures but when the summer comes, the spoiler "pulls" as it expands with heat. (warps) 2. The tape sticks but does not cure. Water and dust get under the tape and negate the seal. You only get one shot with the OEM spoiler because of the double sided tape.

If you live in a warm area right now then never mind.... But if it's cold now, it may be better to wait to "set" the spoiler in the heat and when the spoiler is more pliable. The heat will pull more than the cold will shrink if that makes sense.

I'm with mikeyt03 on this one. If there is any worthwhile adjustment to rear wing/spoilers, it is the elimination of them.

For my wingless '06 convertible I bought the GT pedestal wing but couldn't bring myself to drill that lovely pristine trunk lid, so the wing is still up in the garage (black, if it matters). I ended up with a rubber lip from eBaY, and was quite pleased with its understated appearance. If it weren't for the holes, I'd be tempted to make the same choice on my current car.

I replaced the white pedestal wing on my '09 GT/CS with a black Shelby KR wing (same as the '07 Pony Pack wing). It was OK. When I traded the '09, I put the white pedestal back on the car.

I replaced the pedestal wing on my '08 black GT/CS with another KR black wing. It went with the car when I sold it. If anyone is counting, it seems as if I have two black pedestal early-S197 wings in the garage. And one low KR wing. I think.

After it all, I'm saying the designers did pretty well with the shape of the Mustangs, and such things as wings and side scoops just serve to interrupt the smooth flow of the basic shape and, not incidentally, the air, to no useful effect.

I don't like stripes very much, either.

I just installed my OEM GT500 spoiler yesterday after getting it back from the body shop and I'm amazed how much smaller it is from the 3D Carbon spoiler after looking at the 3D on the car for 6 months. No regrets I always loved the look of the stock spoiler on a stock shelby and having the Gurney Flap as another pc. Like I had posted before with the 3D Carbon one the Gurney Flap is built in and when they painted it they did not do a great job of masking the corners to get a sharp edge also the black paint was light vs the oem the flap is separate and already black. Anyways just getting use to a smaller and lower profile spoiler.

Heads up on this ebay link, its the cheapest place you will find a OEM Shelby spoiler. They have like three different prices on eBay and they know of the error but still has not fixed it also FREE shipping. My local body shop charged me $130.00 to paint it.

Yeah I had actually messaged them asking if there was a difference and they said if the model number is the same then they are the exact same product, they just had a more expensive one which didn't make sense to me, but hey I'm not complaining! lol. Good to know, I was wondering how it would actually cost to paint. Did your body shop get the actual exact paint, or did they try to match your paint color?

This a local body shop for the Dodge dealer by my house which I have used in the past because there on my State Farms list of body shops. I gave them the paint code but they wanted my vin number anyways, thats how they look up your paint code and any other stuff for your car also the paint and spoiler looks like it came from the factory, all n all the OEM is way better.
