Grille Removal - 2013

AM I going to have to pull the bumper off? My California Special Grille should be arriving any day now, and I'm curious what I'll need to expect.

yes, you are.

it is very easy. Just take the plastic clips off your the plastic radiator cover under the hood, remove the two bolts that are under the hood next to the head lights, turn your front wheels and remove the 2 screws on each side in front of the wheels on your bumper cover, then pull your bumper right in front of your headlights. Once it is loose (you will hear 3 LOUD snaps on each side of the bumper) wiggle inside and disconnect your parking and fog lights. After that go underneath and get the 4 screws holding your bumper to the splash tray, then just grab a blanket and pull the whole bumper off. be careful not to scratch your paint where the bumper detaches from the front end next to the headlights).

lay your bumper on the blanket, and the rest is even easier.

takes like 15 mins going cautiously.

This is for a 2011, but for the 2013 you just have a few more bolts to undo. but reading this walk through will get you going quickly.

Why did you stripe when you're getting a new bumper?

She's changing out the stock GT front grills with fog lights for a set of California Special front grills and fog lights. The front facia is the same, just inserts are different.

I'm interested in seeing how it turns out myself. I love the aggressive and clean look of the GT/CS grilles and I prefer that setup over the normal GT grille, but I don't really care for the other features in the GT/CS package.

Yeah, I think the LED GT grilles are a cool novelty, but they just look weird to me on the Shelby-like front end, and especially so now that I striped it.

I find it very interesting that Roush removes the bumper cover to remove the grille, and CDC just yanks it off with a firm pull.

yeah it pops right out with a quick jerk, I've done it just for the heck of it. Do put tape on the bumper though, double it up Id say. When I did mine it tore the tape slightly...

here's a pic I took while I was snooping in there, dont think it will help much I was more interested in part #s I cant see any reason to hack off the actual tabs for the housing from what I can remember..but it will be visible thru your new grille right? Um..youre not gonna make me go to the garage like a gentleman and yank my grille are ya LOL. Id say watch the cdc vid and pause it to see if it shows

Of course, I don't half *** this stuff. :-) Furthermore I've obtained a HID kit from DDM tuning, so I don't have crappy yellow fogs, and their output will be nearly 3x what it would be normally. Since they are projectors they shouldn't be blinding people either.
