Fender Badges

Just wondering, does anyone make a magnetic type of fender badge?

I've never seen one. BTW, I saw a car with magnetic Terlingua Racing Team decals, and they looked like crap (they were probably a couple years old). It could have been because of the way they're handled or stored, but magnetic is a bad idea, IMHO.

I was thinking instead of 3M tape they could put a magnet on the back of the 5.0 and 3.7 emblems. ...

I can imagine what happens in a car wash to something like that. Or in a really bad rain storm. Just picture a magnetic badge dragging across the paint...

Guys have magnetic numbers for AutoX's and track days that don't come off, don't think heavy rain will drag it off.

The magnetic backings are kinda thick. Plus, you gotta find someone that can cut them into the right shape for you. Consider also they're only intended to hold themselves onto a surface. The added weight of an emblem may be too much for them to be retained during normal driving.

Sounds to me like you don't drive it enough.

My paint guy says he has these tiny but very powerful
magnets. I can see using them on the emblems but i would worry about them leaving scratches on the paint too.

I kinda like the idea myself. My Mach is my daily driver, so what I would do is make/buy a real simple emblem that is light for DD use. Then, you could switch to something legit that is modified with a magnet backing (or the like) that you could use for showing. Something to think about anyways.
