Experiance with cj pony parts

I had a pretty awful experience today with this company. I ordered about 300 worth of product 3 days ago from them and today I get an email saying for every 100 I spend I get a 30 gift card.

So most retailers let you do a one time price adjustment within 7 days, so I figured I would give them a call and see what they say. Well...two supervisors basically told me I could return the product and then re-buy it to get the offer but I would have to send the product back. Now lets realistically think about this...the only person losing money on me sending it back would be them, why would they not retro this offer and be done with it? So...the supervisors were so rude and disrespectful about this situation that I will absolutely never shop there again. I told him that i would return the product and shop somewhere else and he could have cared less. The supervisor got tired of talking to me and literally sent me to his voice mail. Wtf? I didn't know they were doing so great that they could just dismiss customer concerns like that. My main problem was not the discount, it was the way I was treated by them. Not good...

There's a thread that talks about all of CJs fine print, terms, conditions, poor service, and loop holes.

For instance, I bought several hundred dollars worth of stuff ONE day before the free gift card promotion and they would not honor it. There's so many other reasons why they suck drive shaft and I'm sure other members can chime in. I don't care if CJ has a 95% off sale. I will never buy from them again.

In the meantime, I'm glad we still have good mustang parts companies like American Muscle, Starkey Products, Roush overstock, Late Model Resto, and Tousley Ford.

Yeah I should have done my research. The only reason I didn't use American Muscle is because they didn't have the roush splitter. I'm returning the stuff and shopping elsewhere.

Yeah... That'll happen... I ignore their emails about sales anymore. It's either stuff for older mustangs or interior pieces I'll never order. Otherwise their stuff seems pretty pricey compared to everyone else.

The only good stuff I can say is that they have a very good overall selection and carry lots of good products. Probably won't ever order from them unless they get some good sales on stuff I want. Anyways just my .02! Given the choice between them and American muscle, I'd go am everytime. Customer service is tremendous, good sales, price matching, all the reps, etc etc etc.

I wont say it was an awful experience but I had the same experience today. I ordered some things a couple days ago and saw the email. I called them and was told there is nothing they can do. I did order the stuff without the expectations of the gift cards but thought it would be a good jester for them to honor it. I will put that in the memory banks for the future.

Also, if you use a gift card and enter 20% discount at the same time then it will default to the 20% and your gift cards will be NULL.

Example: You could have 150 bucks in gift cards and they will not be honored with the discount code. The fine print says they can't be used together.

Plus all those loyalty points and cards need to be used in 30 days or they go bye bye.

This is just poor marketing in general.

Steve is a member here and works for them. He's a good guy. I'm sure he can resolve any issues you guys are having. Just send him a pm before sponsor bashing. Sounds like the $30 should go towards another purchase if I understand it right.

I've talked to two supervisors and they both wouldn't budge. From what they said, there is no one higher to talk to. They were complete jerks and one told me he was transferring me to the owner and he transferred me to his own voicemail, not the owner. He also wouldn't give me any info about who the owner was and how to contact him.

What made my experience awful was how the supervisors tried to make me feel I was out of line to even ask them to retro the promotion for me. All I wanted was the gift cards for my purchase I made a couple days prior, which I would have used to buy springs, shocks and struts from them. Within 7 days is a totally reasonable request. I did email the owner and have not gotten a response about how I was treated.

I'd also like to hear from their sponsor. I understand if an "associate" or even a "supervisor" can't approve a $100 giftcard. But given the terrible work around of sending things back and forth, I'd think someone can make it happen.

Working retail, I know that some things have to literally be returned and re-bought to make the discount happen. But shipping things back and forth for no reason is just stupid. At the very least, they should "pretend" like it was shipped and just send the giftcard.

So there's this guy that works for me and makes $12 an hour. Well this other guy equally qualified came in today and offered his services for $10. Since we were already in to a new pay period I asked the old employee if he would let me go back to the first of the month and reduce his pay to $10 an hour and he can keep his job. Otherwise I'm gonna go with this other guy and he gets nothing after today.

He told me to go pound sand. I thought I made a reasonable request. That's just poor marketing on his part. See if he gets a good referral.

This is a bad analogy. What you posted isn't a socially normal situation. It is however socially acceptable to expect a price adjustment within 7 days. This is socially normal because 99 percent of retailers do this. CJ is acting outside of what consumers perceive as normal.

That's really not the same. Even as someone that works retail, this is ****ty.

The problem is CJ just needs to set prices and stick to them. Stop getting fancy with incentives and earn business by good customer service.

Good thing is that the buyer can choose if they want to buy from them or not. I wouldn't sweat it. I'm sure they aren't either.

From what I see, CJ usually has pretty good discounts compared to our other vendors. But yeah they could do a better job explaining how they work. I don't see anyone getting ripped off. Just confused and inconvenienced a little.

This!

I don't buy from them because I got a bad taste in my mouth when I bought some items and got the free gift cards. They were only good for 30 days and we moved during that time and I didn't find them again till after they were expired. I'm sure it was in the fine print somewhere they were good for 30 but had I paid better attention I'd have ordered the parts from somewhere else for a little less without the promotion.

Their regular prices are always about 5-10% higher than you can find elsewhere. It's when they put the item on sale or offer the free gift cards that their prices become competitive or better than the competition.

So thanks for sharing OP and it just reinforces that I should continue to look elsewhere for Mustang parts.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I wonder if a rep will ever chime in.
